What do you think of these?

Hello berries,
I am organizing my new favorites and I would like some feedback. Brief comments would be very nice.
So, here is the list
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sybella[/name_f]
[name_f]Justine[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]/[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]
[name_f]Magda[/name_f]
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f]
[name_f]Azenor[/name_f]
As I said, a short thought for each would be great. Thank you for your time!

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]-I absolutely adore this name! Most people think its too morbid but I think its timeless, classic, and elegant

[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]- this ones tough its unique and beautiful but [name_f]IMO[/name_f] has a masculine feel to it. Perhaps [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] instead?

[name_f]Sybella[/name_f]-something about this name just feels incomplete. But I adore [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]

[name_f]Justine[/name_f]-I feel like this would work best as a mn

[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]/[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]- I adore both of these! Classic and beautiful! They age well and I love the nickname: [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]

[name_f]Magda[/name_f]-I much prefer [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]

[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]-NMSAA much prefer [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]

[name_f]Esme[/name_f]- very pretty maybe slightly over done with the whole twilight craze

[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]- [name_u]Love[/name_u] this

[name_f]Leonie[/name_f]-beautiful reminds me of my favorites [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], briony, [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]

[name_f]Azenor[/name_f]-definitely unique im not sure how I feel about it

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - prefer [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], but this is nice
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] - too Spanish for me (I know it Latin, but it’s still very Spanish)
[name_f]Sybella[/name_f] - prefer [name_f]Sybilla[/name_f], but [name_f]Sybella[/name_f] is nice (both are much better than [name_f]Sybil[/name_f])
[name_f]Justine[/name_f] - OK name
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]/[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - prefer [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], but both are bit heavy.
[name_f]Magda[/name_f] - I think there’s little witch called [name_f]Magda[/name_f]
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] - Corn nickname, but nice
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] - lovely
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] - lovely
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] - prefer [name_f]Leona[/name_f]
[name_f]Azenor[/name_f] - prefer [name_f]Alienor[/name_f] or [name_f]Leonor[/name_f], but this one is OK

Thank you!
@ruesmom: Actually, I am an [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]. :wink:

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] it! It’s so ethereal and literary. I love it, but I dislike that it doesn’t really have any nns I can get excited about it.
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] - okay, but I like [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Odilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] much more.
[name_f]Sybella[/name_f] - love both [name_f]Sybilla[/name_f] and [name_f]Sybella[/name_f] (and even just [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], although I think I like it least, too), and I liked [name_f]Sybella[/name_f] best originally, but these days I think I like [name_f]Sybilla[/name_f] much more.
[name_f]Justine[/name_f] - too dated for me. I see a [name_f]Justina[/name_f] occasionally through my work, though, and I find that really intriguing and unusual! I also like Yestin, as well.
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]/[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - I want to like them, but I just can’t get excited about them right now. I like [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] names more than [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] names atm.
[name_f]Magda[/name_f] - [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]MAGDA[/name_f]! omgoodness, it’s so beautiful and European. A lot of people don’t love it, but I adore it. I like [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], too.
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] much more, personally.
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] - lovely, but I prefer the Esmée spelling. Esmé is the [name_m]French[/name_m] unisex/masculine spelling.
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] - I adore it! On my own short list.
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] - I’ve been LOVING [name_f]Leona[/name_f] lately. I don’t care for [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] nearly so much.
[name_f]Azenor[/name_f] - I’m with @sorceress here–I much prefer [name_f]Alienor[/name_f], or even [name_f]Leonore[/name_f]/[name_f]Lenore[/name_f]/[name_f]Lenora[/name_f]/[name_f]Eleonora[/name_f]/etc.

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] it. Ph sounds and -elia endings are my weakness, plus I love the [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] character.
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] - Feels kind of edgy and vintage at the same time, which is awesome. Also, cool nn possibilities.
[name_f]Sybella[/name_f] - I love, love, love this name. I’ve always like the meaning of [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] and the nickname Sybbie, but [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] just feels frumpy to me while [name_f]Sybella[/name_f] is graceful, mysterious, and magical. Soooo pretty.
[name_f]Justine[/name_f] - Eh. It’s NMS. I don’t like that it’s only one letter away from [name_m]Justin[/name_m], and the sound isn’t all that great.
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]/[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - [name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]. I used to hate it (and passionately wished my name were [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]) but now I like it. I definitely love being a [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], so you can’t go wrong with either of these [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
[name_f]Magda[/name_f] - Cool. I like that it feels sort of pan-European. A bit clunky, but horribly so.
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] it. [name_m]Just[/name_m] the right balance of clunk and frills. I’d love to meet a [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] in real life.
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] - Another name I’m completely in love with. It’s just so sleek and sophisticated and gorgeous!
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] - Used to be one of my favorites. I still quite like it. It’s very spunky and feminine.
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] - Definitely beloved here on NB, but NMS. It feels too cutesy and sounds a little unpleasant to me.
[name_f]Azenor[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] it. So bold and fun, and a million times cooler than [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]: [name_m]Both[/name_m] of these have recently caught my eye. I think they’re beautiful. I prefer [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] over [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] though.
[name_f]Sybella[/name_f]: I prefer [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], I’m not sure why.
[name_f]Justine[/name_f]: This is okay… It feels a little dated to me. Would be a nice middle.
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]/[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]: Never really got on board with the ‘[name_f]Gwen[/name_f]’ names. [name_m]Just[/name_m] not my style.
[name_f]Magda[/name_f]: I like [name_f]Magda[/name_f]! But, I prefer it as a nickname to [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]. I also prefer [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] over both.
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]: I like [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] just because it doesn’t have ‘corn’ in it.
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]: So beautiful. I’d love to meet a little [name_f]Esme[/name_f].
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]: Classic and strong! Great choice.
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f]: I’d prefer [name_f]Leona[/name_f] but it’s okay.
[name_f]Azenor[/name_f]: Hmm… I’m not sure how I feel about this one. I think I like [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] more.

[name_f]Justine[/name_f] - feels dated to me, makes me think of [name_f]Justine[/name_f] Bateman.
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] - never liked the sound of this one; much prefer [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f].
[name_f]Azenor[/name_f] - a little too out there for me.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] the rest!

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] – love this name. It is on my guilty pleasure lis (rather than my short list) because of the [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] character association (which I and my family as well as many friends strongly tie this name to). It’s not the tragedy part, but rather her lack of strength that deters me.

[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] – A fun, slightly bold name. I enjoy it.

[name_f]Sybella[/name_f] – Like this better than [name_f]Sybilla[/name_f] and [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]. A nice alternative to other “bells”

[name_f]Justine[/name_f] – Not a fan.

[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] / [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] – In general, the [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] names just don’t grab me.

[name_f]Magda[/name_f] – Pretty but somehow quite dominating/overbearing as well.

[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] – [name_m]Just[/name_m] okay. I can’t really get behind [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] either. I think it’s the mix of harsh and sweet that just musses it up for me.

[name_f]Esme[/name_f] – Not a fan, though many Nameberries love it.

[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] – [name_f]Lovely[/name_f], though not as inspiring as some of your other choices.

[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] – I love this name. It’s pretty but kinda quirky and unexpected without being too out there.

[name_f]Azenor[/name_f] – This one is new to me. I don’t like the first syllable. And I’m a huge fan of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], so I think that’s interfering with my ability to look at the name objectively. [name_f]Leonor[/name_f] or [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] are other lovely options, especially since you like [name_f]Leonie[/name_f].

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - Beautiful and classic.
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] - Spunky. Plus, I have an appreciation for Latin names.
[name_f]Sybella[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] this fresh take on “[name_f]Bella[/name_f]-type” names. I also love her predecessor, [name_f]Sybil[/name_f].
[name_f]Justine[/name_f] - Not too big of a fan of her. Reminds me too much of the 80s sounding [name_f]Christine[/name_f].
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]/[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - I love both of these. [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] gets extra points for its ultra literary feel.
[name_f]Magda[/name_f] - [name_f]Lovely[/name_f], though I prefer [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f].
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] - One of the feminized versions of male names I appreciate most. Also, love the NN [name_f]Nellie[/name_f].
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] - Sweet and simple.
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] - This one has graced my list a few times. I’m a fan.
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] - Same as [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. She is light and fun, but still established.
[name_f]Azenor[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] the history and meaning of this one, though I prefer [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] or [name_f]Senara[/name_f] (or even [name_f]Lux[/name_f].)

Overall, I really enjoy your list  [name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] and [name_f]Leonie[/name_f].

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Octavia[/name_f], [name_f]Sybella[/name_f] - dislike
[name_f]Justine[/name_f] - I really like this one! I know someone with this name and she wears it well. It’s easy to pronounce and spell, but there aren’t many people with this name.
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]/[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], [name_f]Magda[/name_f] - not a fan
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] - I sort of like this one, though I prefer [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. Sounds very regal to me
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] - I like it, but unfortunately it makes me think of twilight
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] - [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]! one of my favorite names!
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] - sounds a little strange to me, sounds like a nn for [name_m]Leonidas[/name_m] or something - too masculine
[name_f]Azenor[/name_f] - I would have no idea how to pronounce this… but if that doesn’t bother you, go for it!

I love [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]! The others are not my style.

Thank you, berries! Why nobody likes [name_f]Justine[/name_f], by the way?

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - a little too “[name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m]” for me
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] - Meh…
[name_f]Sybella[/name_f] - Prefer [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]
[name_f]Justine[/name_f] - [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] name! It’s a little tomboy-ish, and I picture an adorable grubby 4 year old with her hair up in pig tails
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]/[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - Meh again… it’s too feminine [name_f]IMO[/name_f]
[name_f]Magda[/name_f] - Pretty, though I prefer it as a nickname for [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] or [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] - [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]!
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u], really like the nickname [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]. The only thing is that I think it’s going to get pretty popular, I see it mentioned a lot.
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] - Ugh, I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this name, but DH won’t go for it… it’s very popular in Germany
[name_f]Azenor[/name_f] - too out there for me

I filled in my thoughts above!

[name_f]My[/name_f] 2 cents:

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - I have recently started to see the appeal in [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], and now I think it is stunning. I like “O” as a nn, as in [name_u]Blake[/name_u] Lively’s character in Savages. And it would be a nice way to share a bond with your daughter, both of you having O names. I like it! =)
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] - another one I started to love recently. I like it, it is romantic and dramatic, but somehow not over the top.
[name_f]Sybella[/name_f] - this one I do not like. It feels over the top to me. Plus, in portuguese (and I believe in spanish too), sibilar is a verb that means to hiss, to sibilate, like the sound made by snakes. That’s all I can think about when I see [name_f]Sibyl[/name_f] and its variations.
[name_f]Justine[/name_f] - I don’t like it. Makes me think of [name_m]Marquis[/name_m] de [name_f]Sade[/name_f] and [name_m]Lars[/name_m] von Trier’s Melancholia. I see it in the same category of [name_f]Francine[/name_f] - I don’t like the sound and it seems very dated.
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]/[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] I lot, but there’s something I dislike about [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], though.
[name_f]Magda[/name_f] - I find it too harsh sounding. I love [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], though. (but it is not [name_f]Madonna[/name_f]'s nickname! her nn is [name_f]Madge[/name_f]).
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] - I love this! Very romantic and dramatic, yet very proper.
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] - I love it! I love short names with strong sounds.
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] - I don’t like it. For me, it is just a more elaborate and frilly way to get to [name_f]Emily[/name_f].
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] - I like it a lot, I love the [name_m]Leo[/name_m] names. Though I prefer [name_f]Leonor[/name_f], [name_f]Leonore[/name_f] and [name_f]Leona[/name_f] myself.
[name_f]Azenor[/name_f] - I like it, it is a intriguing version of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] - but I prefer [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] it was any help, and sorry if I sounded harsh. Definitely not my intention! They are all nice and proper names, but some were just not my style. =)

Thank you, dear berries!

[name_f]Justine[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Justine[/name_f]! I think it’s very classy. Up there with [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] for me. Definitely not flowery but very sophisticated.
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]/[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - I love both actually. I’ve never met a [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] so it still feels rather fairytaleish to me. I wish some author would use it in a popular book or something so people can see it as a modern option. [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] is on my list and I think it’s gorgeous!
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] - I think it’s cute, but I much prefer [name_f]Leona[/name_f] (maybe with [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] as a nn)
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], but I do think it’s a pretty and usable name
[name_f]Magda[/name_f] - I’d love to meet one, it’s cute and interesting and underused
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] - meh, I don’t hate it and I don’t love it. [name_m]Little[/name_m] too out there for me, but it’s certainly not terrible
[name_f]Sybella[/name_f] - I’m not really a fan of the [name_m]Sy[/name_m]- names in general ([name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], Sylan, [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]), just a little too hissy for my taste, but it’s a fine name.
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] - again, I know it’s well loved, but it feels like a cop-out name to me. Like, “I really wanted to use [name_f]Emily[/name_f] but that was too popular so I found the closest substitute that was a real name and we’re just gonna pretend that it’s completely different than [name_f]Emily[/name_f].” It’s a fine name, that’s just my thought process. Like using Sofine!
[name_f]Azenor[/name_f] - hmm, I’ve never heard of this one before. It’s interesting. I don’t know if I like it or not. Feels like a smoosh of [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - sorry, but I really don’t like this one. I know a lot of Berries favor it but I don’t like the sound or the history
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] - another [name_u]Berry[/name_u] favorite that I find really unappealing. Reminds me of eczema and Ysma from Emperor’s [name_m]New[/name_m] Groove and Twilight and asthma–all negatives.

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - gorgeous! One of my absolute favourites. The one major downside is the tragic damsel of Shakespearean fame.
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] - another lovely name.
[name_f]Sybella[/name_f] - makes me think of crazy cat ladies, not in an entirely bad way. Dislike potential nickname [name_f]Bella[/name_f].
[name_f]Justine[/name_f] - not a fan.
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]/[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]. [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] not as much, though nn [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] is cute.
[name_f]Magda[/name_f] - makes me think of maggots.
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] - pretty, though I dislike the corn- syllable.
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] - cute. Very spunky.
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] - dislike.
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] - adorable, though I prefer as a nickname for [name_f]Leonor[/name_f].
[name_f]Azenor[/name_f] - sounds a little sci-fi.

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - Probably my least favorite Shakespearean name. And I just picture a poor awkward teenager to whom boys say things like “O-feel-ya boobies”
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] - The Oct- reminds me of octopus, and the name itself feels slimy to me. I like the nn option of [name_f]Tavy[/name_f], though.
[name_f]Sybella[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]
[name_f]Justine[/name_f] - Dislike the “een” sound in names, and the “[name_m]Justin[/name_m]” part feels very 80s/90s to me
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]/[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - [name_f]ADORE[/name_f].
[name_f]Magda[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] - I like it
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] it
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] this!
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] - I like how it looks, but I don’t really care for any of the pronunciations
[name_f]Azenor[/name_f] - Idk how I feel about this one. On the one hand it feels historical without feeling heavy. But on the other hand, I can’t picture it on a person at all.
