Okay, love places (Killarney & Kinsale) and I have been thinking of these names. Please rank them on a scale from 1-10, give your honest opinion and some nicknames! Here they are:
Thailynn (Thailand)
[name_f]Icelynn[/name_f] (Iceland)
Irelynn (Irelynn)
Scotlynn ([name_f]Scotland[/name_f])
[name_f]Alaska[/name_f] ([name_u]Allie[/name_u], [name_u]Kai[/name_u])
[name_u]Rio[/name_u]
Indonesia ([name_u]Indie[/name_u])
Also, if you have any names you think would work, please list them! Thank you!
Thailynn 5/10 This sounds cool, but It just sounds a little made up.
[name_f]Icelynn[/name_f] 4/10 Iâm not a big fan. [name_f]Icy[/name_f] isnât a great nn in my opinion
Irelynn 3/10 I would just go with [name_f]Ireland[/name_f].
Scotlynn 6/10 This one is nice. [name_u]Scotty[/name_u] on a girl would be cute!
[name_f]Alaska[/name_f] 7/10 I donât really like [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] in general but I would recommend it as a known place name. Itâs pretty cool!
[name_u]Rio[/name_u] 5/10 I love [name_f]Ria[/name_f]!! [name_u]Rio[/name_u] sounds too masculine for a girl.
Indonesia 3/10 Unless you have an actual connection with Indonesia I wouldnât use this. Names like [name_f]India[/name_f], [name_f]Asia[/name_f], and other country/continent names are not my thing
I like [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] and Scotlynn best!
I wouldnât do any of the lynn endings. They look too made up.
Iâll judge them on the place name spelling.
Thailandâ8/10; sounds pretty cool.
Icelandâ3/10; nah, too chilly.
[name_f]Ireland[/name_f]â6/10; beautiful country. Hard to nickname.
[name_f]Scotland[/name_f]â8/10; nice and sporty-sounding.
[name_f]Alaska[/name_f]â8/10; unique and off-beat.
[name_u]Rio[/name_u]â7/10; sounds pretty cool.
Indonesiaâ2/10; so placey that it doesnât sound like a name.
I kind of like [name_f]Alaska[/name_f], but the rest are definitely not for me.
Rio is cool and [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] is okay, but Iâm not personally a fan of the others. Maybe youâd like [name_f]Bali[/name_f], [name_f]Odessa[/name_f], or [name_f]Vienna[/name_f]?
Alaska is cool! Iâm really not a fan of the rest. I actually quite like [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] and [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] as names. Iceland is cool too (I do know a girl named [name_f]Icelynn[/name_f]). Thailynn almost feels inappropriate to me and Iâm not sure why? Maybe because Ire-, [name_m]Scot[/name_m]-, and Ice- feel like genuine name elements whereas Thailynn feels like the equivalent of Mexicanlynn or Chineselynn.
Thailynn- 0/10 (Thailand would get a 5/10)
[name_f]Icelynn[/name_f]- 3/10 (Iceland would get a 6/10)
Irelynn- 3/10 ([name_f]Ireland[/name_f] would get a 8/10)
Scotlynn- 3/10 ([name_f]Scotland[/name_f] would get a 8/10)
[name_f]Alaska[/name_f]- 10/10 (love [name_u]Kai[/name_u])
[name_u]Rio[/name_u]- 6/10 (not bad, just not my thing)
Indonesia- 4/10 (love [name_u]Indie[/name_u] but [name_f]India[/name_f] feels much more intuitive)
I love [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] for a girl, and [name_u]Rio[/name_u] for a boy (or a girl!) I donât think much of the modified place names, except [name_u]Indie[/name_u] on its own or [name_f]India[/name_f].
I actually know a girl IRL named Scottlyn! She pulled it off really well.
I love the name [name_f]Alaska[/name_f].
I think my least favorite from your list is Indonesia. Not a big fan.
I would just get rid of Thailynn, [name_f]Icelynn[/name_f], Irelynn and Scotlynn. It feels like taking someoneâs country name and going âoh, letâs trendy these upâ and adding a -lynn suffix. I donât like place names at the best of times, but at least just use the place names. (Slightly harshly, it makes me think of people who donât travel but want to seem like theyâve gone places.)
Rio and [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] are fine. [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] is the better of the two. [name_u]Indie[/name_u] could work as a nickname, or just by itself but Indonesia just doesnât work and I think thereâs a risk taking the [name_f]English[/name_f] names for other cultures and using it for our kids, especially when itâs cultures we have suppressed or somehow targeted in the past.
I love place names too! However, I would mainly consider more in the middle name spot. I would also advise against the -lyn suffix, with perhaps the exception of Scotlynn.
[name_f]Scotland[/name_f] is super cute, and my favorite from your list.
[name_f]Alaska[/name_f] is also usable in my opinion
[name_u]Rio[/name_u] is soo adorable, but I can see it more on a boy
What about:
[name_f]Vienna[/name_f]
[name_f]Valencia[/name_f]
[name_f]Venice[/name_f] / [name_f]Venezia[/name_f]
Andalusia
[name_f]Geneva[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_u]Rome[/name_u]
[name_u]Milan[/name_u]
[name_u]Cairo[/name_u]
[name_m]Oslo[/name_m]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]
[name_m]Santiago[/name_m]
[name_u]Havana[/name_u]
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
[name_f]Florencia[/name_f]
Firenze
Iâm really not loving the âlynnâ names, they look very trendy and made up (and maybe a touch try hard). Iâm sorry but thatâs just genuinely how I perceive them.
[name_f]Icelynn[/name_f] - probably the nicest out of the âlynnâ names. It has a sort of cool vibe to it and flows well together. But itâs still not my style - 4/10
Thailynn - really jarring to read and say aloud. [name_m]Just[/name_m] too jumbled and made up looking. If you wanted to honour Thailand I would probably just go for the short and spunky [name_u]Tai[/name_u]/Thai which has really cool beachy vibes as it is - 2/10
Scotlynn - just looks like a jumble of names to me. Much prefer [name_m]Scot[/name_m] for a boy or [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] for a girl - 3/10
Irelynn - I find this hard to pronounce in my accent, again it looks (and sounds) like a jumble of letters. Much prefer [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]! - 2/10
[name_f]Alaska[/name_f] - really sweet and spunky although it might be subject to teasing a la âiâll ask herâ - 7/10
[name_u]Rio[/name_u] - I spunky short name that is slightly exotic but still useable and ultra cool. Maybe tainted by the [name_m]Duran[/name_m] [name_m]Duran[/name_m] song but itâs not a big deal (itâs a great song!) - 7/10
Indonesia - I really love [name_u]Indie[/name_u] and [name_f]India[/name_f] but Indonesia is a bit convoluted in comparison. It doesnât roll off the tongue as well as the other names. I would consider [name_u]Indie[/name_u] or maybe even [name_f]Bali[/name_f] as an alternative -
5/10
