[name]Malachy[/name]. [name]MAL[/name]-[name]AH[/name]-KEE.
[name]Angela[/name]'s Ashes and the Irish Republic. Like most Gaelic names, it’s lilting and fun to say. Needs an Irish, or possibly English, surname though-- [name]Malachy[/name] Rosenberg just doesn’t work.
I prefer [name]Malachi[/name]
This is the name of a church near my house–St [name]Malachy[/name]'s. So I personally cannot see it on a little boy or girl.
I love this Irish version of a Hebrew name. It has a nice meaning and is fun to say. I personally think it would be super cute on a little boy.
I generally prefer the sound of [name]Malachi[/name], but I’ve been rereading all of [name]Frank[/name] McCourt’s books and I just read A Monk Swimming by [name]Malachy[/name] McCourt and it makes me love the name. Fun to say and very handsome.
I like [name]Malachi[/name] more but [name]Malachy[/name] is nice. [name]Malachi[/name] has been shooting up the charts so I think a lot of people might assume it was prn’d [name]Malachi[/name].
Same here. I think [name]Malachy[/name] would be mispronounced, too, for [name]Malachi[/name].
Not a fan - sounds a little too close to a Greek swear word for me to get behind it…
I automatically prn it with the eye sound at the end. I don’t like the EE sound. [name]Malachi[/name] would be my preference.
