What do you think of this combo

[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Alice[/name]. Our last name is Ty$0n. DH’s grandmother who everyone called Grandma [name]Lu[/name] was named [name]Luella[/name] [name]Alice[/name]. So this is sort of a classic spin on her name. We’re just TTC right now so this is for a hypothetical little girl. Siblings are listed in my signature. The main question mark I see is that it’s a bit “s” heavy and a bit “child lit” heavy. She would share my initials which I think is kind of neat.

It’s VERY heavy on the S imo, especially with your last name.

What about [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Ella[/name]?
Or [name]Luna[/name] [name]Alice[/name]?
Or [name]Lea[/name] [name]Elise[/name]?

I agree it is a lot of S. What about [name]Lucia[/name] [name]Alice[/name]?

I also hear the S problem, but more specifically, both names are two syllables, with the stress on the first syllable and the S sound in the second syllable. To me, that makes it very clunky. I see the name [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Jane[/name] in your signature, which is a sweet alternative. If you wanted to stick with honoring the grandmother, consider:

[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Ally[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Allie[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Alicia[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Alia[/name]

(these have S’s but don’t feel as clunky because of the extra syllable…)
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Alessa[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Alessia[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Alyssa[/name]

I know she wouldn’t have any of the grandmother’s specific names. I’m not a fan of “honoring someone” with a name that is merely “similar” to theirs, because people can really stretch it. But if everyone called the grandma [name]Lu[/name], you could still call your daughter [name]Lu[/name] in honor of that by using any of the above suggestions or others you can come up with.

I hear the ‘S’ problem but I really don’t see it as a problem. I think it’s a sweet name!

I agree with icing. It is a whole lot of ‘S’ but I really like it anyway!

Thanks so much for the feedback everyone. I will have to give [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Alice[/name] a bit more thought. I do like [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Jane[/name] but really liked how [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Alice[/name] would honor Grandma [name]Lu[/name]. I also felt like [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Jane[/name] played up the youthfulness of [name]Lucy[/name] a bit more than I wanted.

I love [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Alice[/name] but, that [name]ED[/name] drug Cialis kind of has made me think twice as of late. They are both amazing names and in my top 5. I think the essy-ness is totally okay in this case. [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Alice[/name] [name]Tyson[/name] is adorable!

I do agree with the “s” sound thing but it doesn’t seem that problematic to me. I say if you love it, do it!

I agree with pp’s there are many s’s going on in the combo. If you really love it, you should use it, but otherwise you might want to reconsider it. [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Alicia[/name] or [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Alice[/name] changes the rhythm of it a bit, making it less repetitive. Or perhaps [name]Luella[/name] [name]Alice[/name] as it is?

I found myself thinking of this combo again despite it’s essy-ness it has some charm and I like the family connection. So I came back to this thread to see if it had gotten anymore comments.

I totally hear Cialis. [name]Alice[/name] seems to be a toughy. When we were thinking of using [name]Alice[/name] as a first name we thought [name]Alice[/name] [name]Mae[/name] was cute. My older kids said it sounded like pig-Latin. I could have lived with it if it weren’t pig Latin for malice!
