What Do You Think of This GP?

It doesn’t seem like it would be my style at all (but then most of my gps don’t), but I have recently been crushing on the made up name ‘Zoella’.

Yes, I know. Zoella is the YouTube name of [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] Sugg…but I kinda love it! It sounds really pretty, unique, and spunky. I think it could be usable. I mean, it’s a mash-up of two very popular names.

Idk. Like I said, it’s just a gp of mine, but what do you all think of it? Could it be used in real life? Is it too tied to the YouTube sensation? Anyone else like it as a gp as much as I do?

Zoella isn’t strictly made up, it can be a feminine form of Zoellus.

That said, it is tied to one person as you said. I’m personally not a fan of the name, but I do like Zoeva (zo-eh-vah) which is the name of a makeup brush company

I think the name Zoella is pretty and I want to love it, but I really dislike the youtuber, and that’s the only connection I have with the name.

I am not particularly fond of the sound of the name. I do like [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and love [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. I do not know anything about the YouTuber.

I’m also not a huge fan, it’s just a little bit too much for me. A bit too frilly, a bit too smooshed, and I do think that currently it’s also too tied to the YouTuber (even though I’ve never watched or read anything she’s done, even I know the name well). However, I doubt that association will be a long-lived one, so maybe 10 years into the future this could be a perfectly usable name.

I really, really like [name_f]Zella[/name_f] though! And [name_f]Zetta[/name_f], [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], [name_f]Zillah[/name_f], [name_f]Zosia[/name_f], [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]… I definitely get the appeal of those spunky, feminine Z- names.

I definitely think it’s usable! I also don’t think that it should be ruled out just because it’s “made up” or because it’s a “smush name”. All names are made up, and there are a lot of “smush names” that are now considered legitimate names.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the youtuber. Who knows how relevant Zoella would be by the time this hypothetical child grew up, especially within the child’s own age group. (Not trying to insult Zoella, just saying)

I like [name_f]Zella[/name_f] and [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] a lot, too:) And, you’re right, there is something about ‘spunky, feminine Z- names’.
