So I really like the name Nightly for a girl. At first I didn’t like it, but it grew on me quickly and now I think it’s really cool. I like the “night” imagery, so I don’t like the spelling Knightly/Knightley. Nightleigh makes it a little more name-ish but looks kinda pretentious to me.
I also think the name is a lot more appealing if you imagine it as a full name. Like Nightly [name]Claire[/name] [name]Decker[/name].
So yeah, what do y’all think of Nightly? It seems like a love it/hate it type name, so bash/praise it all you want
It’s not my style, but I don’t hate it. It reminds me of Mr. Knightley from “[name]Emma[/name]” (by [name]Jane[/name] [name]Austen[/name]), so that’s a good association. I guess if someone were going to use it, I’d prefer it on a boy.
Nightly is an adverb to me (“I change my socks nightly”) and knightly is an adjective (“a knightly prince”.) So I see it as a word name rather than a surname name.
I actually sort of like Nightly. It doesn’t suit my style at all, but it has the same sweet vibes as [name]Waverly[/name], but with the cool visions of night, like the stars and aurora borealis and the shadows and cool night breeze and all. I wouldn’t use it or anything, but it is a pretty cool GP. I think probably the right person could pull it off, and it would be memorable for a character in a novel, maybe.
I like the name Nightly… ^^
I think it will go really pretty with a classic/timeless middle name like: Nightly [name]Marie[/name], Nightly [name]Rose[/name], Nightly [name]Eve[/name], or Nightly [name]Belle[/name].
And some fresher names: Nightly [name]Violet[/name], Nightly [name]Isabelle[/name], Nightly [name]Grace[/name], Nightly [name]Giselle[/name], Nightly [name]Raine[/name], and Nightly [name]Brie[/name].
I also like it spelled Nightlie… ^^
