I was talking to a friend last night about names, and she mentioned a family she knows with four children, three of which have names that aren’t out of the ordinary (the only one of the three I could remember was [name]Kelsey[/name]) but they named one of their daughters Isaly. She said they pronounce it “Iss-uh-lee”…has anyone seen/heard this name before? I thought at first that it was just some variation of [name]Cicely[/name], but she told me that the mother said it was an acronym: I Shall Always [name]Love[/name] You.
I’m usually not one for made up names, but I actually really like it! I feel like its different enough to set her apart but a similar feel to all the [name]Isabel[/name]'s and [name]Emily[/name]'s thats it’s not totally out there. My only problem is I have trouble picturing it on an adult. Overall a very cute name- on the verge of too cute
Isaly… Isaly… it sounds like [name]Italy[/name] and [name]Cicily[/name] mushed together, or [name]Cicily[/name] without the C. I’m not sure if I like it or not, but as far as made up names, or acronym type names go, it’s better than [name]Nevaeh[/name].
So cute, new to me! My name is [name]Leslie[/name], and my favorite nn ever was given to me by a beloved little boy I used to nanny: ‘Lesaly’.
I generally like ‘-aly’ or ‘-ily’ names for girls, and this is very cute. As adorable as the acronym is, I like the way this name sounds. I would consider a different spelling even as it DOES look very close to ‘[name]Italy[/name]’ at first glance. I think Issalie looks nice!
That’s exactly what happened to me. When she first said “Isaly,” I thought, well, that’s different, and I kinda liked it. Then when she told me that it was an acronym, I found it to be too much for my taste. Why not just pick a name that means love?
I agree that as far as made-up names go, it’s one of the better ones. And I like the idea behind it. (Reminds me of [name]Mabel[/name] from “Mad About You” (Mothers Always Bring Extra [name]Love[/name]), except that’s an actual name.) At least they didn’t just put different sounds together that they liked for no reason other than thinking they sounded good.
My first thought was actually “[name]Kelsey[/name] and Isaly?” Is it just me or are those super similar? That must make for some confusing conversations around the house.
Their children’s names each start with an “h, i, j, and k,” although not alphabetical with their birth order. I can’t remember the h and j names. But I was also told that Kelsey was originally supposed to be named Kharley, pronounced “Charlie” but my friend told the mom it would never be pronounced that way in English, it would be pronounced “Carly,” so they went with Kelsey instead. But yeah, Isaly and Kelsey are very similar!
I have to agree. When I first saw the name, I was like that’s kind of cute! I am not a fan of like making up an acronym for a child’s name but it’s a cute name It sounds good too, like not just some random acronym.
