What do you think of this name...?

Hello,

What do you all think about the name [name_f]Kirsi[/name_f]? [name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce it? Which country do you think it is from?

Also, I am looking for a name for [name_u]Kristian[/name_u]'s sister. Does [name_f]Kirsi[/name_f] and [name_u]Kristian[/name_u] make a good pair? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any other suggestions? I am looking for something unusual.

I would pronounce the name as Kur-see. I would probably assume it’s an American made-up name, since it sounds kind of like [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] or [name_f]Kirsti[/name_f]. My second instinct is that is sounds of Middle Eastern origin.

[name_u]Kristian[/name_u] just sounds so average next to an unusual name like [name_f]Kirsi[/name_f]. I feel like I’d have to know more about the characters and their background to decide whether or not the names work together, but for now I’m going to say no, they don’t work together. If you’re looking for another K name, what about [name_f]Kiera[/name_f], [name_f]Kalina[/name_f], [name_f]Kimber[/name_f], [name_u]Kassidy[/name_u], [name_f]Karissa[/name_f], or [name_u]Kit[/name_u]?

I actually know a [name_f]Kirsi[/name_f], and she pronounces it [name_m]KEER[/name_m]-SEE. She is Finnish, and I assume the name is as well. [name_f]Kirsi[/name_f] and [name_u]Kristian[/name_u] seem a little too similar for sibling names, in my opinion.

I assumed [name_u]Sweden[/name_u]/Scandinavia when I saw [name_f]Kirsi[/name_f]. [name_u]Kristian[/name_u] seems to fit it just fine in that regard. If she pronounces it [name_m]KEER[/name_m]-SEE, it sounds great with [name_u]Kristian[/name_u]. KUR-SEE may be a little odd.

Some parents name their kids in letter sets so that’s realistic, but I imagine the poor tired mom would sometimes mix up their names!

Wow, you’re spot on! [name_f]Kirsi[/name_f] is actually Finnish, and so is [name_u]Kristian[/name_u]. [name_m]Hence[/name_m] I thought both of them sounded close enough for siblings.

Thank you for your reply! Appreciate it a lot. [name_m]KEER[/name_m]-SEE is the correct pronunciation, and I’m glad you like it with [name_u]Kristian[/name_u]!
