What do you think of this name ?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] again! After commenting on a different post of mine I figured this would actually be a great place to get insight on one of my favorite names, Murron.

Soooo,

  1. [name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce Murron?
  2. What does it strike you as: legitimate name or trendy, made-up name? (and why, if you feel so inclined (: ).

I haven’t heard of it before, although I saw on your popular name thread that it came from a movie?
Anyhow, it does remind me of the name [name_u]Murray[/name_u] or [name_u]Murphy[/name_u] and of one of my favorite potential middle names on our list ([name_f]Marin[/name_f]). I do like Murron, though! I personally think it would work best in the middle position, but it could work as a fn!

I would pronounce it as “murr-in”.
I think it would belong on the border of legitimate and made-up. As I mentioned before, it does sound like other, legitimate names. For some reason, it just does give off a slight ‘made up’ vibe. Not sure why.

I don’t want to burst your bubble but to me it looks like “moron”, maybe because I pronounced it Mer-on? Anyways, if it is Mer-in then I don’t think it’s too bad. It wouldn’t strike me as trendy-sounding at all.

I would pronounce Murron as murr-on and agree with the PP that it’s very close to moron

[name_f]Maren[/name_f] would be a similar sounding but infinitely nicer alternative.

I have to agree with the others…I like unique names, but this is too close to moron for me, too. As a teacher, I just cringe for the potential a Murron would have of getting teased.

It reminds me of Braveheart. I would prn it Myurr ihn

Agreed.

I pronounce murr - on ([name_u]Murphy[/name_u] + son).
“[name_u]Murray[/name_u] + Marrom + [name_f]Manon[/name_f]” hybrid?
As an alternative, I suggest [name_f]Manon[/name_f], a nickname for [name_f]Marie[/name_f] I believe.

It kind of reminds me of mutton, isn’t that sheep or something? It does sound like it would fit in well at the moment though

  1. It looks like [name_u]Murray[/name_u] or murmur with a different ending. I’d say “MUHR-uhn.”
  2. It strikes me as a surname (not the same as a made-up name), and in concept, surnames are fine to use as given names. However, I can’t say I like the way it sounds (or seems to sound since I’m guessing on the pronunciation). I’d like MEWR-uhn a bit better.

Haha thanks for all the advice. Yes, the “moron” thing has me stuck on the idea that Murron need be kept as a middle name. But I really do think I will use it as a middle. Right now my pairing is [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] Murron. But, everyone did guess at pronouncing it correctly.

Thanks for the help!
