What do you think of this nickname as a formal first name?

Hello berries!

You may remember that I love my all-time favorite name Emma for a girl. However, due to its popularity, I’m still open to other names. I’ve watched Wonder a couple times (love that movie!), and I just love the name Via.

I know it’s used as a nickname for Olivia, but I adore Via as a stand-alone name (pronounced VEE-ah).

What do you think of this name? My last name is very similar to Harder.

It’s not bad but it’s very wordy. I either think of the preposition via meaning “by means/way of” or the Latin word for street.

Good point, I should specify that it’s pronounced VEE-ah.

Part of me really likes it. It reminds me of [name_f]Gia[/name_f] or [name_f]Tia[/name_f], which are ‘real names’ themselves. My holdup would be the wordiness of it, too. I pronounce ‘via’ as VEE-ah all the time, not as ‘vye-ah’, so it would just remind me of the word.

I think [name_f]Via[/name_f] is lovely!

I think [name_f]Via[/name_f] is beautiful! I don’t necessarily associate it with the word “via”, it just looks like a pretty and unusual name to me.

This is my opinion too.

It’s OK, but I would not want to be named it.

[name_f]Via[/name_f] would seem like it rhymes with [name_f]Mia[/name_f], which rhymes with [name_f]Leah[/name_f]. I find it instinctive and wouldn’t be concerned about the word via.
[name_f]Via[/name_f] is cute and spunky. If people have trouble spelling it it’s only three letters to say out loud.

Thanks so much everyone  I appreciate all your input! Anyone else who wants to contribute their thoughts on [name_f]Via[/name_f] as a first name is more than welcome to!

I can totally imagine myself calling for [name_f]Via[/name_f], or even nicknaming her Vee!

I think it wearable, though do think it’s probably more versatile as a nickname.

If I were to associate it with anything it would be [name_f]Via[/name_f] rail, [name_f]Canada[/name_f]’s train line.

I really liked [name_f]Via[/name_f] after reading Wonder (haven’t watched the film yet) and I just love the zippy ‘V’ sound at the beginning. I do think it works as a full name due to [name_f]Mia[/name_f], [name_f]Gia[/name_f], [name_f]Tia[/name_f] etc. although I initially let it go because of it possibly being pronounced as Vy-uh due to the word. Now I don’t really think it would be too difficult to correct, and it’s a lovely name that would be a shame to not use.

I don’t love it
But I don’t hate it
I like [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] better

I think it’s lovely. If [name_f]Tia[/name_f], [name_f]Lia[/name_f] and [name_f]Gia[/name_f] can work, why can’t [name_f]Via[/name_f]?

I think it’s wearable and probably wouldn’t be pronounced wrong all that often. It seems spunky and sweet.
