I was looking through my family tree recently on the hunt for some inspiration, and found some really interesting names. [name]One[/name] that stood out to me when I looked up the origin and meaning was [name]Alvira[/name] [al-veer-uh].
The origin is English and the meaning is “elfin army.” So cute! And, I think that [name]Allie[/name] is a realistic possibility for a nickname.
So, what do you think of [name]Alvira[/name]? Would you use it?
I’ve heard of [name]Elvira[/name] and [name]Alva[/name], so I think [name]Alvira[/name] isn’t an odd stretch. [name]Allie[/name] and [name]Alva[/name] would both be sweet nicknames. It’s a little out there for my taste, but I think it could work fine.
I think it sounds like [name]Elvira[/name] which to date hasn’t found favour with the new baby namers. Are you sure it is [name]Al[/name] veer uh as I would say [name]Al[/name] vy rah. We had someone in our family named Elvria nn [name]Elvy[/name] and I find the nn of [name]Elvy[/name] very cute and pretty nicer than the full name.
I’ve known an older lady called [name]Elvira[/name] (el-veer-ah) and I think [name]Alvira[/name] could also work. Not sure if I’d use it myself - it does sound a little dated, but that could be because the [name]Elvira[/name] I knew was older… so maybe it’s time to revive it! I don’t like the al-vy-rah pronunciation, which sounds ugly to me.
[name]Allie[/name], [name]Alva[/name] or even [name]Vera[/name] could work as a nn.
