What do you think of those twin girl names? Ava & Josephine?

Hello (:
Could you please give me your opinion on girl names [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] & [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]?
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it’s a good sibset? Are the names on the same level?
& how do you imagine/describe a girl named [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]? or a girl named [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]?
& what name do you like better?

Sorry for all those questions, haha (:
I just want to know your full opinion on those names.

Thank you!
[name_f]Happy[/name_f] holidays,
x

I really like that combination! I am not someone who likes matchy twin/sibling names though. I think with twins it is especially important to pick 2 names that you like and not just first go for matchy. To me that sets them apart as distinct individuals (but that is just my opinion). I know identical twins named Adalena and Analena (not sure if that spelling is correct) and it kind of makes me cringe.

To me [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] would seem more girly and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] less so, but that might be because I sometimes associate [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] with [name_u]Jo[/name_u] from [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women

First of all I really like the name [name_f]Ava[/name_f] (and [name_u]Wren[/name_u] for that matter). I think as a sibling set, particularly for twins, [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] seem like they are on opposite ends of the spectrum. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is short, cute, very popular. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is one of the far less popular classic names and much longer. Like I tel everyone if you love the name, use it because you’ll live with it for a lifetime but I think there are better name couplings.

I’m with amoser–I think [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] feel very mismatched, since [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is modern and mega-popular while [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is much clunkier, much less ubiquitous and has more of a vintage vibe. [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would work better if you want unique, or something like [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] if you don’t care about popularity.

I also think [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] flows really awkwardly when you say it out loud because of the back-to-back V’s. If you stick with [name_f]Ava[/name_f], I’d switch the middles so it’s [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u].

All that said, I really like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]! It sounds intelligent and earthy.

I don’t like [name_f]Ava[/name_f] because its too popular, but I love [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]! Other names I suggest:

[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_f]Kathleen[/name_f]
[name_f]Kathryn[/name_f]

I actually like them together. The difference of the popularity level is the only thing that bothers me a bit but I still think they are the same style. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] sound beautiful as sisters.

[name_f]Ava[/name_f] & [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are all right for sisters. I don’t mind [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and I think [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is lovely, but the styles are a little off… I guess because [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is so common right now, whereas [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is not.
I personally think [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f] & [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] work better together. And in terms of sound, the Vs in [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] are very close together, so, if i’m being nitpicky, I prefer:
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f] & [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
or
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] & [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]

Going off the young Avas & Violets I know, I think she would be extremely emotional. and would be incredibly quiet and shy, sensitive, and spacy. As a teenager, I think she’d be the quiet, bookish type with a small circle of close friends (which I think is nice). As an adult, I think the name [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] would serve her very well if she went in to academia, law, arts, mechanics, whatever.

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] would be a little more forthcoming and honest. She’d be nobody’s doormat at anybody’s point in her life, but she’d also enjoy some sort of free-spirit qualities (the [name_u]Wren[/name_u] part speaking, I suppose, haha). I could see her being active in team sports (where [name_f]Ava[/name_f] would be more of an individual sport person), but would also do something like painting or sculpting.

I do like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f] a lot, even though I think my descriptions come across as preferring [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] (I don’t particularly care for [name_u]Wren[/name_u] myself). I guess I like them equally for different reasons.

You might consider hyphenating [name_f]Ava[/name_f] w/something like [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_f]Marie[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] to balance better w/[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u], but it’s not necessary. I think they’re gorgeous names, and they don’t have to match. The girls are individuals, after all.

I agree that [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] sound a little mismatched… I think [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] sounds a lot better!

[name_f]Ava[/name_f] is sultry like [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Gardner[/name_u]. Bosomy, voluptuous.

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is a sharp, intrepid young woman like [name_f]Katharine[/name_f] Hepburn.

Personally, I can’t stand [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Gardner[/name_u] and adore [name_f]Katharine[/name_f] Hepburn, but that’s just me!

Thanks for all the answers!
I think you guys are right about [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. The name isn’t on the same level as [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], even though I’ve always loved the sound of “[name_f]Ava[/name_f]”. Now I’m considering some other names:

~ [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] & [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] ~
~ [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] & [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] ~
~ [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] & [name_f]Violet[/name_f] ~

Which combination do you like better? & do you have some other suggestions?
Thanks!
x

I love [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]! You could even stick with the same middle names, I think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] sounds lovely.

I don’t mind the combo. I think as twins it’s hard enough to find individual identity without adding the burden of matchy names.
If [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] was nn [name_u]Josie[/name_u] I think it sounds lovely with [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_u]Josie[/name_u].
If you are set on looking for a longer name, how about [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] nn [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. [name_u]Josie[/name_u] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] are a nice combo too.

I don’t like the combos individually or together. I honestly can’t get over the same endings that [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] has and the clashing V’s in [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] are driving me nuts. I love [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] sounds too much like “violent” for me. I prefer [name_u]Josie[/name_u] over [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], but [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is adorable.

Now on to the sibset. As many PPs stated, [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are very mismatched. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is cute and spunky, while [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] carries the whiff of a nursing home for me. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_u]Josie[/name_u] would honestly make a great sibset. [name_m]Both[/name_m] cutesy, spunky names that work at any age.

If you want to keep [name_f]Ava[/name_f], I suggest…
[name_u]Josie[/name_u]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]

If you want to keep [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]…
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Theresa[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

I think they work, but I would prefer [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. Of your new picks, I like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] best with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].

I’m with several of the posters that finds them a wee bit mismatched. I think [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would be lovely. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] classes up [name_f]Ava[/name_f] a little bit, and it doesn’t seem too short. I think [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_u]Wren[/name_u] would be great for twins, or [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f], even, and I think [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] or [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] would be great together. But if you’re worried about compatibility, I think [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] might not be the PERFECT fit for [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. Still a lovely name, though, and if that’s what you love best, I think you should go for it.

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] from your new choices is my favorite, but [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] fits too.

I think [name_f]Ada[/name_f] or [name_f]Adah[/name_f] would also be perfect as pp suggested.
