What do you think of when you hear someone with the name Warren?

This name is at the top of my boy list (team green here), and I’m wondering what thoughts you have on it. What do you think of when you hear of someone with the name [name_m]Warren[/name_m] (handsome, ugly, intelligent, stupid, wealthy, poor, old, young, mean, nice, ect.)?

My husband is obsessed with this name and has been begging me to use it for our boy due this summer.

I think of a dignified, intelligent professional, very powerful. Probably because I mainly associate it with the [name_m]Warren[/name_m] [name_m]Court[/name_m] (the Supreme [name_m]Court[/name_m] when [name_m]Earl[/name_m] [name_m]Warren[/name_m] was chief justice - they made a ton of famous civil rights-related decisions, you should google it if you’re not familiar).

Definitely powerful and manly in an older way. I think [name_m]Warren[/name_m] Buffet is my main association, followed by [name_m]Warren[/name_m] Beatty. I like the name a lot! It is harder to picture on a boy, but sometimes that makes for the cutest boy names. For me, the problem is a lack of a good nn. I knew a “Ware” in college and I thought that was such a cool name, but I think it was a family name, not short for [name_m]Warren[/name_m].

That’s why I’m not going to use it. It’s a great, powerful name, but I like having a cutesy nickname for when they’re little, and [name_m]Warren[/name_m] is fairly nn-proof. Maybe you could call him [name_u]Wren[/name_u], although that seems more feminine to me.

In contrast to previous posters, when I hear [name_m]Warren[/name_m], I think of someone who is nerdy and bookish. He’s on the quiet side, but he can have a sharp, sarcastic humour when he feels like making his opinions known. I think a [name_m]Warren[/name_m] would grow up to be a techie of some sort, maybe a programmer.

I have no problems seeing the name on a boy or a young man.

I love the name (I think it’s strong, powerful and rich sounding - likely because of Buffet). My husband on the other hand thinks it’s super dorky.

I agree. I have a student named [name_m]Warren[/name_m] this year and this fits him pretty well.
