[name]Lucia[/name] (loo-sha) nn [name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name] nn [name]Lou[/name] or [name]Lulu[/name] or [name]Luce[/name] or [name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name] nn [name]Nora[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name] nn [name]Greta[/name]

[name]Elizabeth[/name] nn [name]Betsy[/name]
[name]Harriet[/name] nn [name]Hattie[/name]
[name]Rosemary[/name] nn [name]Rosie[/name]

[name]Violet[/name] nn [name]Lettie[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name] nn [name]Annie[/name]
I love [name]Louisa[/name]! I definitely don’t think it will get super popular. [name]Susannah[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Rosemary[/name] are all favorites, as well. I consider [name]Nora[/name] a nickname, not an actual name. I would do [name]Eleanor[/name] instead. [name]Cora[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] are both gaining popularity. I love that [name]Margaret[/name], [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] are such classic names, but you have less-heard-of nns. [name]Betsy[/name] is still dated, though. [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Lucia[/name], and [name]Harriet[/name] aren’t my style, but they would all make fine names.
My favorites are:
[name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name] nn [name]Nora[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name] nn [name]Greta[/name]
[name]Rosemary[/name]
[name]Violet[/name] nn [name]Lettie[/name]
[name]Lucia[/name] (loo-sha) nn [name]Lucy[/name]: I think it’s beautiful…
[name]Louisa[/name] nn [name]Lou[/name] or [name]Lulu[/name] or [name]Luce[/name] or [name]Lucy[/name]: I love it!
[name]Eleanor[/name] nn [name]Nora[/name]: I love this, too!
[name]Margaret[/name] nn [name]Greta[/name]: Ditto…
[name]Nora[/name]: Ditto!
[name]Cora[/name]: Ditto! (You may also like [name]Cordelia[/name]…)
[name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name]: I love it…
[name]Elizabeth[/name] nn [name]Betsy[/name]: I love it! [name]Elizabeth[/name] is quite popular (#9), but it’s a timeless classic. I think it’s beautiful…
[name]Harriet[/name] nn [name]Hattie[/name]: I think it’s so spunky!
[name]Rosemary[/name] nn [name]Rosie[/name]: I think it’s a great name…
[name]Josephine[/name] nn [name]Joey[/name] or [name]Jo[/name]: I love it!
[name]Violet[/name] nn [name]Lettie[/name]: So sweet…
[name]Susannah[/name] nn [name]Annie[/name]: One of my all-time favorites!
I love your list! My personal favorites are [name]Susannah[/name], [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Cora[/name], and [name]Charlotte[/name], but I love them all!
[name]Lucia[/name] although [name]Lucy[/name] is quite popular,
[name]Louisa[/name] – up and coming but not too popular.
[name]Eleanor[/name] – I hear this everywhere. I think the nn [name]Elly[/name] is becoming the new [name]Emily[/name]. Personally I’d steer clear of this name if popularity is a concern.
[name]Margaret[/name]/[name]Greta[/name] – timeless classics! [name]Greta[/name] makes it fresh. Great name.
[name]Nora[/name]/[name]Cora[/name] – slightly dusty names that are sweet and not overly popular.
[name]Charlotte[/name] – another one that is rising fast on the charts.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] – a perennial classic that is high on the list. I’d go with a variation but [name]Betsy[/name] is not a favorite.
[name]Harriet[/name] – in the [name]Nora[/name]/[name]Cora[/name] category for me.
[name]Rosemary[/name] – sweet, not popular name that hits both the classic and the naturey notes.
[name]Josephine[/name] – a classic that is coming into the light, and rising fast. I hear this more and more.
[name]Violet[/name] – because of the celebrity association, and the over-popularity of [name]Rose[/name] & [name]Lily[/name] I see this as the next flower name to get really big.
[name]Susannah[/name] – a sweet name that I see rising but not surging upwards.
From your list my favorites (and most unlikely to be uber-popular) are [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Margaret[/name], [name]Rosemary[/name], [name]Susannah[/name].
[name]Lucia[/name] (loo-sha) nn [name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Nora[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name] (love nn [name]Lottie[/name])
[name]Josephine[/name] nn [name]Jo[/name] (also love nn [name]Josie[/name] or [name]Posy[/name])
[name]Violet[/name] nn [name]Lettie[/name]
[name]Lucia[/name]/[name]Louisa[/name]: I love [name]Lucia[/name] and my husband loves [name]Louisa[/name] or even [name]Louise[/name]-- what do you think between these names?
I agree, I think [name]Eleanor[/name] is too popular! But I love [name]Nora[/name] so much! Could I do just [name]Nora[/name]?
DH said no to [name]Cordelia[/name]. I’m not sure about plain [name]Cora[/name]. I am not sure I love it.
I love [name]Rosemary[/name] and it’s DH’s favorite, however what do you think about when you hear this name? My sister keeps making “[name]Rosemary[/name]'s [name]Baby[/name]” jokes. [name]Do[/name] you think [name]Rose[/name] names will get really popular?
I love [name]Margaret[/name] but DH likes [name]Margot[/name] better… wdyt?
[name]Josephine[/name] and [name]Harriet[/name] are DH’s ideas. Not sure I’m in love with them.
I think I’m crossing [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] off the list. [name]Both[/name] seem maybe just too popular. My husband also declared [name]Susannah[/name] to be his least favorite, so i think we are getting rid of that as well.
Revised list:
[name]Lucia[/name] or [name]Louisa[/name] or [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name] ([name]Greta[/name]) or [name]Margot[/name]
[name]Nora[/name]
[name]Rosemary[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] ([name]Jo[/name])
[name]Harriet[/name] ([name]Hattie[/name])
Other ideas? We have a very common last name, so I want something with the feel of these names but not too popular.
Thanks!
