I’d prefer a saint or biblical name for baby…
Still conjures up an image of a scary old witch (no offense). The nickname [name]Aggie[/name] is kind of cute though.
If your looking for suggestions I think [name]Magdalena[/name] is a really pretty alternative, and it at least gives you the “[name]Ag[/name]” in [name]Agatha[/name]
There’s also the biblical name [name]Tabitha[/name] which gives you the “tha” ending
I love the name [name]Agatha[/name] and the nickname [name]Aggie[/name], [name]Agnes[/name] is also a good alternative, [name]Agnes[/name] is also a saint
[name]Love[/name] it! It’s definitely an old lady name, but I think it’ll come back the way [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Amelia[/name] did.
I think [name]Agatha[/name] is pretty cool and strong. There was a really competitive girl in my ballet class growing up named [name]Agatha[/name]. She used to kick people with her pointe shoe “by mistake.” She was a total diva but also really spunky and funny, kind of fabulous, wore amazing stripey legwarmers. So that’s my association with the name.
It’s one of those “old lady names” that I like. It’s seems to be a pretty polarizing name. People either seem to love it or hate it. I think [name]Aggie[/name] is a cute nickname.
My grandma was [name]Agnes[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]. A name that nameberries probably like. Sometimes people called her [name]Agatha[/name]-- she did not like that.
I don’t see this one coming back at all, and i’m really not a fan. I like violetgray’s suggestions of [name]Magdalena[/name] and [name]Tabitha[/name].
[name]Agatha[/name] is very harsh sounding to me. And I typically lean towards old-fashioned names so the anachronism isn’t the issue for me. I’m a fan of saint names as well…some of my favorites, less conventional ones are [name]Apollonia[/name], [name]Maura[/name], [name]Flora[/name], [name]Eugenia[/name], and [name]Helena[/name].
gives the vibe of a mean old hag… or makes me think of agatha christie on a lighter note
