I love deep from my heart [name]Diego[/name] and [name]Alejandro[/name]. So I chose [name]Diego[/name] [name]Alejandro[/name]! And I’m not a [name]Matteo[/name] addict at all.
Thanks Sheigh!! I think [name]Alejandro[/name] sounds very masculine and sexy hehe and it is my hubbys middle name, but unfortunately I know a lot of Alejandros, so I wouldn’t want to call out my babys name and have several people turning around LOL
And I like [name]Diego[/name] too, but we’ll see…
Alejandros and [name]Diego[/name] are very common (and Lady Gaga’s song and [name]Diego[/name] children’s character) - I have uncles with those names. Other very common spanish names are [name]Juan[/name], [name]Jorge[/name], [name]Javier[/name] and [name]Miguel[/name]. My dad’s name is [name]Jose[/name], which don’t go there, extremely common.
Another uncles name, but I don’t think as common [name]Luciano[/name], maybe a nice fit?
Other possible Spanish (or close sounding) choices that maybe aren’t that popular
[name]Alvaro[/name]
[name]Casparo[/name]
[name]Axel[/name] (Not Mexican, but I have a cousin born & raised there and it’s his name)
[name]Cornelio[/name]
[name]Enric[/name]
[name]Hilario[/name]
[name]Pasqual[/name]
[name]Raoul[/name] (semi common)
[name]Tam[/name]”s
[name]Ulysses[/name] (cross culture)
Good [name]Luck[/name] and Congrats!!!
As a side note, my father, he raised me and my four siblings in the white culture. He pushed for American/Anglo sounding names where we could blend into the culture without prejudice. My best friend who is black, named her daughter thinking about the same concerns, more not wanting people to make assumptions about her on paper before they met her. Not sure if that is a concern or not for you, but thought I would throw that out there.
My siblings names: [name]Eliza[/name] (me), [name]Jackie[/name], [name]Jon[/name], [name]Rachel[/name] and [name]Corey[/name].
I love rhythm of [name]Diego[/name] [name]Alejandro[/name] the best!
And I would have to say my parents had the opposite reaction to naming and raising their kids in a white culture than those of wagnerem.
I’m half hispanic, and my parents purposely gave us latin names to reflect our heritage and culture and to remember it, and I’m so glad they did! I’m very proud to have a Spanish name instead of having a name like all the other kids I went to school with (I was often the only latino kid in class).
We’ve never encountered prejudices based on our names. The biggest problem we had was people didn’t know how to pronounce them, but that can happen with any name – it doesn’t have to be Spanish ([name]Isla[/name] or [name]Imogen[/name], for example, or grils I went to school with like Aislynn and [name]Kirstin[/name]).
However, perhaps the fact that none of us physically look obviously latino might’ve made a difference… but I still like the think the people judged us by our merits and our character and not our heritage.
And I plan on continuing the tradition with my husband who doesn’t have a drop of latin blood in him by giving our kids names either Spanish names or names that work in both Spanish and English.
Plus I think that so many Spanish names are being used by the non-hispanic public now, that the line is blurring. Hello, [name]Isabel[/name]?!?
And Spanish names are just so beautiful!
Anyway, keep [name]Diego[/name], and I’m rooting for [name]Alejandro[/name] – it’s a gorgeous combo!
I think spanish names are lovely - i have a middle name that is spanish and last name was spanish too… and i think ideally, everyone wants to be judged for their merits, but sadly, that’s not the reality often times. Altho [name]Obama[/name] getting elected is a great start in the right direction. Anyways, I only brought it up - not so you can forget your culture, but to be aware that sometimes names can unfairly change one’s path. I think it’s good to look at all the sides when making choices, including picking names. Personally, it’s just how my mind works anyways.
Again - [name]Diego[/name] and [name]Alejandro[/name] are both very common names and I gave you some suggestions above.
Good [name]Luck[/name] and as long as you love the name, that’s all that matters!
Thanks so much for the suggestions! Picking a name for my baby boy is a lot harder than I thought it would be
I agree [name]Diego[/name] and [name]Alejandro[/name] are beautiful names, but I do worry about them being too common, and I’m sorry to say that with [name]Diego[/name] I just imagine my child playing sports and other kids yelling: “Go [name]Diego[/name], go!” while snickering… I want to go with a name that is hispanic without being obvious, which is why I like [name]Matteo[/name] and [name]Benjamin[/name], and to me [name]Joshua[/name] and [name]Josh[/name] just sound handsome
Unfortunately my hubby isn’t sold out on either of those names, he insists on [name]Diego[/name], and my mom likes it too…
I also was considering [name]Sebastian[/name], [name]Tristan[/name], [name]Cristobal[/name]… But I’m not sure…
[name]Sebastian[/name] I think sounds very nice, but for some reason it reminds me of hair products
This is sort of stressing me out! I can’t believe I’m 7 months pregnant and haven’t made up my mind!! Ohhhhh well, I still have two months to go
