what do you think the trends for 2011 are?

[name]Hi[/name] girls!

[name]Just[/name] curious to see what you think the trends are going to be for 2011!

I feel naming is going green. Nature names will continue to be big whether flower, fruit, spice, water, weather, or animal names. [name]Wren[/name], [name]Frost[/name], [name]Bay[/name], [name]Saffron[/name], [name]Ash[/name], and [name]Laurel[/name] are just a few that I see breaking out. These sort of names seem destined to be the new [name]Brooke[/name].

There are some trends that have peaked for me. Besides a few underused ones like [name]Geneva[/name], place names I feel are the new [name]Hayden[/name]/[name]Aiden[/name] especially with the overdone New [name]York[/name] boroughs/locations like Brookyln and [name]Hudson[/name]. The Celt names are so tired since they’ve become the new western names ([name]Dakota[/name], [name]Austin[/name]). There’s enough [name]Connor[/name], [name]Liam[/name], [name]Ryan[/name], and Rileys out there. You can include Irish surnames as dated for example [name]McKenna[/name] and [name]Delaney[/name].

Less and less names are going to come from the top 1000 much less top 100. Surely there will still a few who’ll name their unfortunate child [name]Jayden[/name] and [name]Mikayla[/name]. There seems to be more people choosing more ethnically diverse names from their actual families that haven’t seen the top 1000 in the past 20 years or so. [name]Unique[/name], stylish yet personal seems to be a trend that I wholly approve of.

cool, great input! That’s interesting that ‘green’ names are going to be the new trend. I can definitely see that happening.

Lately, a lot of people I know have either used or considered using [name]Eve[/name]-names on their babies ([name]Eve[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name], etc.), so I think those are rising in popularity.

Occupational names are still in, but they’ve been changing. Now instead of [name]Taylor[/name], [name]Tucker[/name], and [name]Tanner[/name], there’s [name]Sawyer[/name], [name]Piper[/name], [name]Palmer[/name], [name]Porter[/name], [name]Jagger[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name], etc.
