What do you think when you hear "Ford Keys"?

My husband and I are super hooked on the name “[name_m]Ford[/name_m]” for our boy due any day now. Our last name is “[name_m]Keys[/name_m].” [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think everyone will think of “[name_m]Ford[/name_m] [name_m]Keys[/name_m]” in automotive terms or are we over thinking this?

It didn’t even occur to me until I googled the name just to check we weren’t missing something/someone obvious and images of car keys showed up!

I love the name [name_m]Ford[/name_m], but I do automatically picture car keys when I hear it with your last name, unfortunately. What about using a longer variation of [name_m]Ford[/name_m] for a formal name and using [name_m]Ford[/name_m] as a nn? It’s not very often that people use first and last names- only when referring to someone with a common first name or in a formal setting i.e. Graduation, job interview.

Fordham [name_m]Keys[/name_m] nn [name_m]Ford[/name_m] perhaps?

I immediately think of keys to a [name_m]Ford[/name_m], unfortunately. I like the suggestion above of finding a longer name to get to [name_m]Ford[/name_m].

yes totally reminds me of car keys.

What about a longer first name with the nickname ford?? [name_m]Bradford[/name_m]?

I have to agree with previous posters that [name_m]Ford[/name_m] [name_m]Keys[/name_m] looks and sounds very automotive. However, as a high school teacher, it also feels very much like an athlete’s name. Maybe because we’re in the south, but it feels like high school and college athletes carry monikers differently and can pull off some of the less traditional names that they’re given.

Also, I see so many different names on my rosters these days, that while initially people may think automotive, if you choose that name, those who come in contact with him will pretty quickly make the switch in association.

I do think of cars, unfortunately! Maybe something like [name_m]Stafford[/name_m] with the nn [name_m]Ford[/name_m]? He’d still be known as [name_m]Ford[/name_m] [name_m]Keys[/name_m], though, so I’m not sure how much that solves…

As previous people said, reminds me of car keys.
I like the suggestions above, about using a longer name and [name_m]Ford[/name_m] as a nickname.
