It’s a bit harsh to me I’m afraid
I like it when it’s spelled [name_m]Werner[/name_m], but not really a fan of how [name_u]Verner[/name_u] looks. I recently read a book called All the [name_u]Light[/name_u] We Cannot See where one of the main characters was called [name_m]Werner[/name_m] (he was German), and it definitely made me see it in a new light! It’s strong in sound but when said right it can also be gentle.
I think of the sf author Vernor Vinge.
I prefer the spelling [name_m]Werner[/name_m], but find it too Germanic for me.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think people would mishear it as [name_u]Vernon[/name_u]? Looking at the UK name stats from 2020, released today, I noticed [name_u]Vernon[/name_u] isn’t on the list at all. Given there are 6000 names on the list (all names with at least 3 occurrences in 2020), I wonder why…
I immediately think of filmmaker [name_m]Werner[/name_m] Herzog (pronounced Verner).
I think of a ginger ale brand in the midwest (US).
Then I think of [name_m]Werner[/name_m] Herzog. It has a very clunky sound for me as an American [name_f]English[/name_f] speaker. I’m sure other places, it might not have the same sound.
It makes me think of an old man whos a farmer. Not sure why. Its a strong but yet soft name imo.
I think [name_f]Vernie[/name_f] would be really cute for a baby!
I think of the ginger ale
i first thought of the name [name_u]Vernon[/name_u]! which i like and [name_u]Verner[/name_u] is nice too, but i prefer [name_m]Werner[/name_m]
I actually really like Werner!! I read the same book as @krijesnica and it definitely made me see it in a softer light. The spelling [name_u]Verner[/name_u], while easier in terms of pronunciation, does make the name lose its charm to me, though.
