As of right now, daughter #2’s name is [name]Harper[/name]. The name we originally had picked way back after we first found out we were having a girl was [name]Reese[/name]. I love love love the name [name]Reese[/name], and so does my husband. However after about a month of her name being [name]Reese[/name], someone pointed out the problem of it with our last name, Pond. Now I’m having trouble loving the name [name]Harper[/name] as much as I loved the name [name]Reese[/name].
So be honest, how bad is it, really?
We would probably use [name]Reese[/name] [name]Olivia[/name].
While [name]Reese[/name] Pond may not flow super smoothly, it is a pretty name, especially paired with the trendy yet sophisticated [name]Olivia[/name], and if you love it even half as much as you say you do… Use it!
I actually prefer [name]Reece[/name] Pond to [name]Harper[/name] Pond. The two hard p’s in [name]Harper[/name] Pond don’t appeal to me. [name]Reece[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] is a great mix of unisex and feminine qualities. I say stick with your original love [name]Reece[/name]. Good luck, [name]Mischa[/name].
lol I see the problem with [name]Reese[/name] Pond/respond That’s really unfortunate, but I would stay away from that name because of it.
As for [name]Harper[/name], in all honesty, I don’t really care for the double P you get with your last name: [name]HarPer[/name] Pond. But that wouldn’t be as much of a deal breaker for me as the problem with the other name.
oooh, as someone with a challenging one-syllable verb for a last name, I feel you pain. There are just so many names that I love but are unusable, which is heartbreaking. I really like [name]Reece[/name] in general, but personally, I wouldn’t do it unless you just couldn’t see living with any other name. I actually like [name]Harper[/name] Pond a little better anyway. I think the flow of [name]Reece[/name] Pond is choppier (with them both being one-syllable) than with [name]Harper[/name] Pond.
I really don’t like [name]Harper[/name], way over done and honestly, I don’t think it’s pretty either.
But [name]Reese[/name] Pond is pretty abrupt and it sounds more like a geographical name than a child’s name. Can you do [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Reese[/name] instead? Have you thought of [name]Rhian[/name] instead of [name]Reese[/name]? Still has that Welsh feel.
If my last name were Pond, I think I would go for more classic names for a daughter to avoid trying to sound like a pond in someone’s backyard, such as [name]Emily[/name], [name]Alys[/name], [name]Clarissa[/name], [name]Katherine[/name], [name]Elinor[/name], [name]Louisa[/name].
I would avoid [name]Reese[/name] Pond. Not only does it sound choppy (I dislike one syllable names together) but it sounds like “respond.” I am not a fan of [name]Harper[/name] either, but it works better than [name]Reese[/name]. Since you seem to like unisex names, here are some suggestions:
I said [name]Reese[/name] Pond 20 times out loud and could not find a problem with it. Then read someone else say it sounds like respond. Oh…ok, but I said it 20 times over and over again and could not see a problem.
I think you are overthinking this one. Go with [name]Reese[/name]. There is no problem with it and I think it flows well with the last name. Also, please remember your daughter is going to get married and if she changes her name will spend the vast majority of her life with another last name. So you are not making a life decision here.
Also, [name]Harper[/name] is about to EXPLODE in popularity. It will be top 10. Stay with [name]Reese[/name].
"Respond’ … That sucks. [name]Reese[/name] is a pretty name.
[name]Don[/name]'t go for [name]Harper[/name] if you don’t love it. I think it’s great, to me it’s style is similar to [name]Reese[/name].
I think you should step back and start from scratch. Make up a new name list and try to find something else you love. Use [name]Reese[/name] as a middle name since you adore it so much.
Other names that have the same “[name]Reese[/name]” feel… (strong names, not too frilly)
[name]Teagan[/name]
[name]Arden[/name]
[name]Noa[/name]
[name]Bronwen[/name]
[name]Emery[/name]
[name]Brynn[/name]
[name]Leah[/name]
What is your first daughter’s name? I agree that [name]Reece[/name] is better than [name]Harper[/name]…unless popularity doesn’t bother you. I don’t love the sound of [name]Reece[/name] Pond, but it is true that she will very likely have a new last name one day.
