This is the only name my husband likes and my first reaction was, “Heck no!” Now, I think it is starting to grow on me, but I don’t want it to. What do you think about the name Knightly? The middle name will probably be something simple like [name]Anne[/name] or [name]Grace[/name].
Um, no. It isn’t feminine at all, and even if you were considering it for a boy I’d find it a bit corny. Having a name that’s homonymous with “nightly” seems like it could be problematic later on regardless.
As a middle name, yes. As a first name, no. And I agree with southern.maple
- [name]Keira[/name] Knightly fan.
- [name]One[/name] of the choices I would expect [name]Kanye[/name] and [name]Kim[/name] to choose for their baby.
- [name]Fan[/name] of the Renaissance knighthood in the middle ages.
- Family surname is [name]Knight[/name], yet you want to make it more feminine.
- You wanted something different, yet not unheard of.
I would pick a name that is slightly more difficult for revolting middle school boys to make jokes about what she does or doesn’t do nightly.
I do, however, like [name]Lee[/name] which is such a cool simple shift-dress of a name and is not very popular at the moment at all.
No…
Please don’t name her Knightly. I teach middle school and her life will be horrid dealing with the taunts.
I agree with other Berries. I don’t like it (besides just the teasing factor, it is not my style). Maybe for MN if you were having a boy.
I’m sorry… but no… I can’t get behind that at all! It sounds like the kind of name that kids could possibly make fun of down the track.
Definitely a no, for all of the reasons above.
Yeah…definitely no. The father doesn’t get to decide on his own. You have to compromise or use it in the middle.
Yes, “nightly” was my first thought. “I’ll be visiting you nightly.” So much unfortunate teasing potential.
I would definitely discourage Knightly.
No, don’t do that to your daughter.
Thank you! After seeing that I’m not the only one that hates it, I think he’s over it.
