What does "@" mean in names?

I’ve seen some people here using “@” in names, for example “Am@nda”. What does this mean?

This makes it so that when [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] googles her name, this post won’t show up in the results. Only really makes sense for rare combinations, but then it’s an understandable concern imo

any symbols or letters used in names are meant to censor it, mainly from searches.
aside from uncommon names, it could be used for more common ones when given more identifying information, such as sibling’s names or surnames.
