what does your baby's name mean?

Strong? Sweet? Beautiful? Blessing? Did you choose it because of its meaning?

Meanings don’t mean that much to me. It’s great if the name i picked has a great meaning, but a terrible meaning wouldn’t keep me from choosing the name.

my top 3 for each

[name]Julian[/name] =“youthful”
[name]Oliver[/name] = “olive tree”
[name]Elliot[/name] = “the [name]Lord[/name] is my God”

[name]Adele[/name] = “noble, nobility”
[name]Vera[/name] = “truth”
[name]Harriet[/name] = “estate ruler”

the only meaning i’m not a fan of is [name]Elliot[/name]. I’m not religious and don’t really want my kids name associated with religion, but I still love the name [name]Elliot[/name]. No one really knows the meanings behind most names. So as an adult walking around the world, i don’t think that people are going to judge you based on the meaning of your name.

I didn’t pick my babies’ names based on meanings. [name]Paul[/name] really doesn’t like what his name means.

[name]Paul[/name] - small
[name]Clare[/name] - bright
[name]Mark[/name] - warlike
[name]Katharine[/name] - pure

if we have a girl next she’ll be [name]Teresa[/name] - meaning late summer
not sure on what will name a boy. Ironically, the pp didn’t like the meaning of [name]Elliot[/name] but one of my favorite things about using [name]Elias[/name] is that it means the [name]Lord[/name] is my God.

My daughter’s name is [name]Grace[/name], and while that is a lovely meaning, we chose it because my mother’s middle name is [name]Ann[/name], which means “grace”.

[name]Phoebe[/name] means ‘bright or shining.’ We chose it for its meaning among many other factors.

[name]Andreas[/name]- manly or strong
[name]Conrad[/name]- brave or bold advisor
[name]Saskia[/name]- saxon
[name]Maren[/name]- of the sea

Meaning isnt hugely important to me but it is nice when it has a good one.

I am not really looking at this. My name means “white” so that’s not really that awesome. Haha!

I do remember my coworker completely disregarding a name once she found out the meaning was something about mother+lover (she is [name]Indian[/name]). The name’s meaning was everything to her, she chose her son’s name based on its meaning. I thought that was interesting, b/c it’s the backwards method that people usually look for a name (I thought).

Neat post!
