What goes with Evangeline? So stuck and really need help.

Yesterday I asked about [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] but didn’t get any replies here, however a lot of people on other sites say it’s a tongue twister that doesn’t sound right. Now I’m hesitant to use it but have no idea what middle name would work and flow well.

Any suggestions? If it helps I’m looking for a name that isn’t too out there but not something extremely common or boring either. Also, my last name rhymes with “haze”. I would appreciate information on what syllables patterns sound best ex: 2-1-3 because I think that’s where I struggle the most.

Thanks in advance!

Although both [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] are beautiful individually, I agree with the posters from the other site that together they sound like a bit of a tongue twister. Judging by them, I would suggest:

[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]/[name_f]Georgina[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eveline[/name_f]/[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Magdalene[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]

I hope these have helped, it was quite hard to suggest as you haven’t mentioned any other names apart from [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] that you like. I’m a little confused with your example of syllable patterns so I apologise for not being helpful. Good luck

Since [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is so long perhaps a shorter middle. Or first. [name_f]Carol[/name_f] is similar to [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. [name_f]Carol[/name_f] is a classic but is rare these days. But still very pretty.

Other suggestions:

[name_f]Nola[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Lois[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Mira[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]

For the syllable patterns part, as long as all three names (first, middle, and last) don’t have the same number of syllables you should be fine (i.e. 2-2-2) and I would try to keep the first and middle name a syllable apart as well.

I am a little confused on if you want [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] to be the middle name or the first name, so I’ll just give you a list of names that would sound good on either side of it or [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. (I would also steer clear of three and four syllable name with [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] since it is already so long, but I’ve added some to the list anyway).

The double -line ending really doesn’t work well. [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is lovely, but it’s so extravagant and long (four syllables!) that I think it’s best paired with a short name, no more than two syllables. Are you looking to use [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] as the first or middle?

I wasn’t totally sure if you were looking for a middle name with [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] as the first, or a first name based on [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] as the middle?
But I do have to agree that [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is a little heavy on the double “line” endings so it causes the combination to look and sound a little unbalanced and/or repetitive.
If using [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] as a middle name, I would search for either

  1. a two-syllable first name, such as [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
or 2) a three-syllable name where the accent is on the middle syllable, not the last one, such as [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]

Is [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] meant to honor someone? If so and you don’t like the name [name_f]Carol[/name_f], you might like the unsual, vintage-y but slightly exotic [name_f]Coral[/name_f] instead. [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is very pretty.

You might also like
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
or [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]

By syllables I meant which sounds best, a 1 syllable first name with 2 syllable middle name, etc.

You were very helpful and I appreciate your input

Edit: sorry I’m not sure why my replies aren’t showing up right under someone’s comment.

I put [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] in the middle spot because I thought it sounded best there with [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] but we want to call her [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] nickname [name_f]Evie[/name_f] so I would be willing to use it as a first name with the right middle name.

I hope that makes sense.

I like quite a few of these names, thanks so much for posting them!
