My husband and I are expecting a boy but we are having trouble deciding what names go well with our surname? It is Macedonian (Stojanovski). We are open to any sort of name, traditional, cultural, cool etc.
I think anything can go with it really! [name]James[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], [name]David[/name], [name]Jacob[/name], [name]Max[/name], [name]Thomas[/name], [name]Mason[/name], [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Theo[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Wyatt[/name], [name]Michael[/name]? Although maybe not long names, because it may become a bit of a mouthful (like [name]Maximilian[/name] Stojanovski). [name]Do[/name] you really have no preference? Perhaps a name to honour your background- European twists on popular names? [name]Tomas[/name], [name]Jakub[/name], [name]Johan[/name], Andrej, [name]Jan[/name], [name]Lukas[/name], [name]Oskar[/name], [name]Pieter[/name]?
[name]Alexander[/name] would be cool. Classic, not try-hard, fits culturally and at the same time isn’t hard for people of other backgrounds.
It’s pretty popular though. Is that okay? Got a range of nicknames that can take it in a number of directions.
Depends on how much you want to stand out? I have known people from there named [name]Lazar[/name], which is a name I sort of love, but it isn’t the most blending-in sort of name ever.
I agree with charlieandperry1 I wouldn’t choose a long name as it may become a bit of a mouthful, so maybe nothing longer than 7 letters. Here are a few you might like that are also Macedonian;
[name]Alexander[/name] Stojanovski nn [name]Alex[/name] or something modern like [name]Xander[/name] works well. You could use the traditional spelling Aleksandar. I really like that combo.
[name]Luka[/name] Stojanovski sounds great yet is traditional too- [name]Lucas[/name] another option.
Nicolaos Stojanovski or [name]Nicolas[/name].
I know a little [name]Sasha[/name] who is delightful. [name]Sasha[/name] Stojanovski
Alternatively good solid traditional names will always work.
[name]William[/name] Stojanovski nn [name]Will[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] Stojanovski nn [name]Ben[/name]
The only names I would avoid are names that are obviously from a different country other than those accepted as mainstream
eg [name]Ryan[/name] Stojanovski would be OK
Finngal Stojanovski but this sounds a bit odd
With your last name, I would choose a traditional first name that is somewhat short and EFFORTLESS to spell and pronounce. Some great ideas have already been mentioned. I especially like David Stojanovski. I also like: Maxwell Stojanovski.
I think just about anything goes, to be honest. It might be better to steer clear of anything too long, since Stojanovski is 4 syllables, but other than that…open slather.
I have friends with surnames like [name]Lemon[/name] and Bull, which are a lot harder to work with than Stojanovski, [name]IMO[/name]!
