The first name I saw on NB I really don’t remember, but I remember very clearly that the first combos I saw on NB were @may.rose’s [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] and @winterlyricalfox’s [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_m]Bly[/name_m]!
I think I was blessed that those were the first two combos I saw.
Oh, you are so sweet! I don’t have the slightest clue what i first saw on nameberry. (That was 4 years ago, believe it or not!) I do remember the old color scheme and signatures really drawing me in! (RIP signatures )
Edit to add: here’s a picture of “old nameberry” that includes a user’s signature. Signatures were how we did bios before user cards were a thing. They were attached to every post a user made!
i first started (under the acc @hannahwren) in 2020 i believe. the first combo i remember seeing- and loving- was @planetnamesruthie nell funnily enough, it’s now on my fiancé’s and my shortlist as a nickname for ruth eleanor!
i also remember adoring @Raven-1013 uc at the time- penelope blythe and elowen dove were two i vividly remember!
The old site sounds so cool, I wish I’d known it! Here since August 2020
I don’t have many distinct impressions of using NB for the first time, except that I was on an intense name search during 2019 when a friend’s baby was due. I kept finding myself on NB & at some point discovered the forums. A year later during lockdown I was hooked on all the name discussions and decided to join. I’ve basically been here ever since! Two of the most active and distinctive users were @katinka & @ethelmary.
I remember the first combo that made me go wow was @enwmn’s own name. It’s [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f] if I remember correctly. Must be around 2018.
@EdgeOfTheMeadow I clearly remember your first post, it was in a made up names thread! I posted like two minutes after yours The name was Josalie I think? I remember finding it pretty.
I’m about to have my ninth Berryversary. I remember spending a lot of time on the original “Names on NB that make you go WOW!” thread in the very beginning. One of the first combos that I saw and adored was [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Firefly[/name_f], and I also remember reading of siblings called [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] (b) and [name_f]Story[/name_f] (g).
I wish that the “WOW” thread was as popular as it once was, because it was such a great resource for finding great, interesting names and sharing positivity. I think that it’s much harder for people to appreciate one another’s combos without signatures, since you have to manually click on their UCs.
I had forgotten that there used to be a scroll of names on the top, that was a cool feature. I also miss the signatures, I think it was a lot easier to associate a particular username with particular names that way.
This thread was also a great way to realize that I joined Nameberry almost exactly ten years ago! My first post was in March 2014. Wow! (I was thinking to myself that it had been seven or eight years, but apparently not.) I’ve seen at least one of the other then-Teenberries from that time come back on here to name a real baby, which was lovely. I hope I am in that position myself before long.
I don’t remember the first name I saw on here, though, or the first one that really blew me away. It’s been a while.
I was a lurker on nameberry long before I started posting, so I remember signatures but I never had one myself! I definitely remember seeing a birth announcement for @katinka’s daughter [name_f]Anouk[/name_f], and being blown away by @seawillow’s combos - I had very tame taste when I first joined this site (still do lol) and that was my first introduction to the very ‘berry’ style!
Its been over a decade so I don’t know for sure but I do remember a berry called @lola and she had a daughter named [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamel[/name_f] Anne… I’m sure I saw dozens and dozens of names but it’s one of the oldest that I remember! I also remember a berry who had a son named [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] who was expecting twin girls [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Athena[/name_f]. I think she named them [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Maya[/name_f] and [name_f]Athena[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] in full?
I remember a berry with a daughter named Emilian@ [name_f]Pari[/name_f] and that was the first name I saw on NB that made me think wow, wow, wow this is where I belong!! I mean how beautiful is Emilian@ [name_f]Pari[/name_f].
I honestly don’t remember because I was lurking long before I could make an account, but I do remember that the first post I think I posted on was [name_f]Eva[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Anya[/name_f]
What a fantastic idea for a discussion, it brings up such nostalgia for me! I do not quite remember what the first name I saw on Nameberry was, as I was younger and a frequent Nameberry lurker about 11 years ago or so, but I too remember signatures and when names searched at the moment were constantly shown at the top of the page. I miss those features, but I digress. I do vaguely recall, if I am not mistaken, that there was a [name_f]Berry[/name_f] with a daughter named C@ssia V!vienne N0or! I have no idea if I spelled V!vienne or N0or correctly for this combination, but I have always thought it was so stunning, and I to this very day have always paired C@ssia with N0or in my own combinations thanks to that [name_f]Berry[/name_f]! Kudos to them for their fantastic naming style and inspiring younger me.
