What is the general opinion of Victoria? How popular is it really? Do you know any?

This is one of those names that I have never really considered, but my husband really likes it, and now it’s starting to grow one me! I’m generally not fond of names that are overly popular, but I’ve only met one [name]Victoria[/name] in my life. [name]How[/name] many Victorias do you know, and approximately how old are they? If one of your friends announced their baby girl was to be named [name]Victoria[/name], what would you secretly think? Pretty? Boring? Classy? Dated???
[name]Just[/name] currious to get some opinions on this name. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this!

[name]Love[/name] it. It’s classic, timeless. It’s pretty much been in the top 100 forever but never trendy in this country. We’re using it as a middle. Can’t go wrong with it. I hear in [name]England[/name] though it’s kind of an 80’s name, but I’ve never been there so IDK!

I think it is popular, but not overly popular. I think it is elegant/ classy and could be made really cute with a nn. Some suggestions are [name]Tori[/name] or Vee but I would not let her get called [name]Vicki[/name].

I love [name]Victoria[/name]. I think it’s so classic and timeless. I knew a couple of [name]Victoria[/name]'s growing up…but that’s it. I haven’t seen it on a little baby.

I only know one - she’s in her 50’s. I think it’s beautiful, and regal of course. Nn [name]Vita[/name]!

I know a lot of [name]Victoria[/name]'s, my schools were full of [name]Victoria[/name]'s, I’ve still got a few friends with this name. I think it’s gorgeous, beautiful and every [name]Victoria[/name] I’ve ever known have been classy, pretty and fun. Crown [name]Princess[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] and [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Beckham[/name] comes to mind, I love both!

I love [name]Victoria[/name] and have never met one! I have known many Vickys and whether [name]Victoria[/name] was their full name or not, I don’t know. I hate [name]Vicky[/name], so if it can be avoided then great. [name]Tori[/name] is cute, but I prefer [name]Victoria[/name] as a full name!

I know two - one is called Viccie for short and the other is [name]Rory[/name]. I love the name - it’s a classic, timeless name, well-known but not too popular.

Oooooh, I’m liking some of your nn ideas! [name]Do[/name] not care for [name]Vicky[/name] at all, but I think [name]Tori[/name] is cute to use occasionally. And I never would have thought of [name]Vita[/name] and Vee, but those are so fun and spunky! I do love how [name]Victoria[/name] is so classy and beautiful, but it has fun nn options. I’m not one to always call someone by a shortened version of their name, but I love having lots of pet names to use at times. If that makes sence.
Thanks for the positive feedback! My husband will love you for helping me to fall in love with the name [name]Victoria[/name]!

@[name]Livia[/name] Oh, another great nn idea - [name]Rory[/name]! [name]Love[/name] that! Is it too much of a stretch?

not at all, very cute nn!

[name]Just[/name] got to thinking… [name]One[/name] problem with [name]Victoria[/name], is I’m not sure if it fits in with our choice for a boy name. [name]Griffin[/name]. [name]Do[/name] [name]Griffin[/name] and [name]Victoria[/name] sound way to different?

I think [name]Victoria[/name] and [name]Griffen[/name] work quite nicely together!

I love [name]Victoria[/name]! It’s one of my secret crushes.

I also know a baby [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Violet[/name] - her nn is [name]Vivi[/name].

Other nicknames: [name]Vicki[/name]/y/ie, Vix, [name]Tori[/name], and my favorite: [name]PLUM[/name]!!! (I first heard about [name]Plum[/name] being a nn bc of the [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Plum[/name] - kind of like the nn [name]Birdie[/name] for [name]Wren[/name], [name]Robin[/name], etc.

I have known 80 year old [name]Victoria[/name]'s, 18 year old [name]Victoria[/name]'s and newborn [name]Victoria[/name]'s.

I think it’s one of the core classics: [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Victoria[/name]

Nicknames other than [name]Vicky[/name] & [name]Tori[/name]:
[name]Ari[/name]
[name]Cora[/name] (bit of a stretch but [name]Vi[/name]ctoria)
[name]Ora[/name] / [name]Ori[/name] / [name]Oria[/name]
[name]Ria[/name]
[name]Rory[/name]
[name]Vi[/name]
Vici (soft c)
[name]Vita[/name]
[name]Vivi[/name]
[name]Vivia[/name]

I’m thinking of using [name]Victoria[/name] for my second daughter. I really like the sound of [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Maureen[/name].

My cousin-in-law just had one!

Her nickname is [name]Vika[/name] (Vee-kuh) which I like more than [name]Tory[/name] or [name]Vicky[/name] or [name]Vick[/name].

My impression is classy & historical…a pit formal. I think middle name choice can really elevate this name to be more light & fun.

As I can see from this thread, I think I’m in the minority when I saw that I really don’t like [name]Victoria[/name]. I went to high school with a couple of [name]Victoria[/name]'s and now I’m in college and now a couple more. A lot of them go by [name]Tori[/name], which I really don’t like (maybe for personal reasons? I have literally liked none of the [name]Tori[/name]'s I’ve known), but some go by [name]Victoria[/name]. To me, it sounds too dated. Like naming a baby [name]Samantha[/name], because most of the [name]Victoria[/name]'s I know are 18-24.

I also don’t like the “[name]Vic[/name]” sound too much, it sounds harsh to me. And [name]Victoria[/name] and [name]Griffith[/name] don’t, in my opinion, go together very well. I think [name]Vittoria[/name] is much prettier and softer, but again, just my opinion.

Any suggestions of sister names that would go well with [name]Victoria[/name]? Or just other similar names that have the same feel?
Thank you to all who have shared your thoughts! Really appreciate it!!

I only know one [name]Victoria[/name]. She’s around 11 years old, and she goes by [name]Tori[/name].

I adore [name]Victoria[/name]! I know it’s popular, it’s always been popular and will probably stay that way - I still love it.
