I got obsessed with baby names when I had my daughter nine months ago and apparently having her and naming her didn’t get rid of my addiction so I thought it would be fun for everyone to share their current name crush(es)! Whether it’s one you’ve had on your list for awhile or one you’ve recently fallen in love with.
Ooh, [name_m]Saban[/name_m] is interesting! I like [name_u]Sabin[/name_u], I’m a similar vein.
Today’s crushes for me are [name_f]Kirrily[/name_f] for a girl and Kirra for a boy. I wouldn’t use either as a first name but I’m loving their upbeat look and rhythm today!
I’m crushing on [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] for a girl and [name_m]Ludovic[/name_m] for a boy at the moment. Not sure how long they’ll stick around at the top of my list but it’s fun to have them there for the time being. The new [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars film has also made me really like [name_u]Rey[/name_u] as a middle for a girl, but I’ve never been a fan of [name_u]Ray[/name_u]/[name_u]Rey[/name_u] before so pretty sure that’ll fade.
For the longest time I’ve loved the name [name_f]Florence[/name_f] (swoon!) and all the nicknames that come along with it. If I ever have a daughter, regardless, her name will be [name_f]Florence[/name_f]. It has a lovely meaning too.
For a boy - [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Love[/name_u] this! I’ve come across a spunky nickname to go with it too and that kinda sealed this name for me!
I really like [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] as well. It’s pretty common here though in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f].
It wouldn’t be unheard-of in Australia as we had a great Irish fly-half (rugby) called [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] O’Gara. He played many games against Australia in his day!
My latest crush for a girl is Tamarisk (I just discovered this one a few days ago). For a boy its [name_m]Tamarack[/name_m]. Yes there is a certain sound and style I am obsessed with right now! I love the unexpected ending sounds of these names, and of course their nature meanings. They will never make it onto the SO-approved list, but right now I’m really crushing on them, and a girl can dream right!
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] & [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]. They go off and on my list all the time but [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] in particular I never seriously considered until now.
Right now I’m crushing hard on [name_f]Mafalda[/name_f]. It’s the Portuguese version of [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and very rare and old-fashioned here (I only know one, my elderly neighbour), but common for little girls in Portugal.
I am in the exact same boat! With my first, my husband picked the first name and I picked the middle ([name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]) and with my second, I had already promised him yeaaaars ago that our first born son would be named [name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_u]Collins[/name_u] (after the 19th century Irish revolutionary) so I am sort of left feeling like I didn’t really get to name him at all! I keep feeling like I don’t have baby fever, I have baby name fever!
I think right now I’d go with :
Boy : [name_u]Theo[/name_u] or [name_m]Leo[/name_m], probably [name_u]August[/name_u] as a middle name
Girl : [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] or [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], middle name [name_m]Cole[/name_m].
I love the super feminine first/unisex or “traditionally masculine” middle combo!!!
My new ones are [name_m]Sulien[/name_m] for a boy and [name_f]Lumina[/name_f] for a girl, but they are very new, and I can’t say I really prefer them to my long time favourites.
