See, my problem is that I [name]LOVE[/name] some literary works, but I don’t love the names in them, or I love certain names from literature, but not exactly the literary work itself. I feel like the two should work together, haha. I also feel like if I use a name from a work of literature, I should want to honor that character, too, not just the name from a story I loved. Anywho. These are the ones where all the criteria combine.
[name]Atticus[/name] - TKMB (although I’m not a huge fan of the book, it just didn’t wow me, but [name]Atticus[/name] did stand up for something great, and I love that there was a [name]Christian[/name] martyr named [name]Atticus[/name], as well)
[name]Sebastian[/name], [name]Viola[/name], and [name]Olivia[/name] - Twelfth [name]Night[/name] (I like [name]Viola[/name]'s character over [name]Olivia[/name]'s, but I like [name]Olivia[/name]'s name more… still, Twelfth [name]Night[/name] is my favorite work by [name]Shakespeare[/name], so [name]Olivia[/name]'s sort of a nod to him in general for me)
[name]Cecily[/name], [name]Gwendolen[/name], [name]Jack[/name], [name]Algernon[/name], etc. - The Importance of Being [name]Earnest[/name] ([name]LOVE[/name] this play! Probably my favorite literary work ever)
[name]Elliot[/name] - not a FN, but I loved [name]Jane[/name] [name]Austen[/name]'s Persuasion.
[name]Eliza[/name], [name]Jane[/name], [name]Lydia[/name], ([name]Georgiana[/name], [name]Caroline[/name]) - [name]How[/name] could you not love the [name]Bennet[/name] sisters? And Pride and Prejudice in general?
[name]Peter[/name], [name]Caspian[/name] - The Chronicles of [name]Narnia[/name]. I’ve also been toying with [name]Shasta[/name], from The Horse and His Boy… I recently heard an audio drama of it, and I really loved [name]Shasta[/name], although I’ve read elsewhere that it’s a girls’ name? It seems so boyish to me because of the book!
[name]Armand[/name]! - I love The [name]Scarlet[/name] Pimpernel (actually, my whole family does, lol), but [name]Armand[/name] is the only character’s name I loved. While [name]Percy[/name] and [name]Marguerite[/name] are more interesting, I always secretly loved [name]Armand[/name]!)
[name]Hero[/name] - Much [name]Ado[/name] About Nothing (probably my second favorite Shakespearean work–I love [name]Shakespeare[/name]! haha. I don’t know if I could use it, though–[name]Hero[/name]'s a lot to live up to!)
[name]Emilia[/name] - A Comedy of Errors (told you I loved [name]Shakespeare[/name]! haha. I loved [name]Emilia[/name] in this, not to mention [name]Luciana[/name], and an added bonus is that my great-grandmother’s MN was [name]Amelia[/name], so I feel like this would honor both a love–literature–and a beloved family member, as well)
I love literature, so I’m sure there are a million others, those are just the favorites right now. I also LOVED [name]Les[/name] Miserables, A Tale of Two Cities, etc., but not their names, really. And I love [name]Evangeline[/name] ([name]Henry[/name] Wadsworth [name]Longfellow[/name]'s [name]Evangeline[/name]… a story I’ve always wanted to read, and after I actually do, maybe it’ll move up to the first list!), [name]Jonas[/name] (The Giver), [name]Esme[/name] (For [name]Esme[/name] With [name]Love[/name] and Squalor), [name]Holden[/name] (The Catcher in the [name]Rye[/name]), [name]Isabella[/name] (Northanger [name]Abbey[/name]), etc., but I’ve never read the books/stories to actually know if I love the characters (or the books), so I don’t quite claim their literary cred, but I do like them as nods to something I’ve always loved–reading and literature.
