I wasn’t sure where else to post this (I am not a fan of Reddit at all so steering clear of there!), and this was the most likely place I could find, since this is a name website after all.
Plus, I saw a few older posts on here from others who had asked the same. So here goes:
I am planning on legally changing my name.
My current name (Savannah Rose) just does not suit my face or my personality AT ALL, I feel.
I would like something a little more soft and feminine, I suppose - nothing too “classic/elderly-sounding” (no offence intended to anyone, of course!), and nothing too “out there/too hippie” (again, no offence to anyone intended!)
I personally like the names Nicole, Ruby, Olivia and Elle. But am open to other suggestions.
Am also looking for a middle name!
Our last name is three syllables and starts with a hard ‘P’ (P for Pear, as opposed to “Ph…” or “Ps…” etc.)
What name do I “look like” in this photo, do you think? (The white “dots” on it are from a filter. Sorry!)
I’m 29 years old and have a husband and children of my own.
I am a typical “girly-girl” for the most part, but not entirely. Am also quite active, and a horse owner and rider.
I wouldn’t say I’m particularly confident or loud, definitely not a party girl; more of a homebody, but I’m fairly outgoing-ish, love to be around my friends and loved ones, and I love to travel and explore.
I own my own business (a studio).
I am very passionate and speak up about what I believe in.
I am a gentle parent.
I am not at all submissive in my marriage; he and I are equals.
I am a kind person and care very deeply for people and animals, and am fiercely supportive of marginalized groups of people.
I am a loyal and supportive friend, and hate seeing others being hurt/mistreated.
I love to read, take photos, be around horses, be in/around nature (particularly water), I like to write poetry, songs and fiction, socialize with friends & loved ones, and like to explore new places and learn their history, or do activities when I travel, as opposed to lazing around on a beach all day!
Unfortunately I am a multiple trauma survivor. Which has made me quite soft and sensitive in some ways, and tougher and more independent in other ways. A bit of both, I’d say?

I think the name [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] does kinda suit, you’re kinda southern pretty.
Maybe [name_f]Vanna[/name_f] [name_f]Ros[/name_f] is more your speed.

Based on this photo and your description, I can definitely picture you as a [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]! [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is a sweet, pretty and different sounding kind of name.
You look like you could be a [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], but at the same time, it’s not predictable. If I met you, I would think you had a different name, but if you said your name was [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], I’d be like, oh yeah, I can see that. If that makes any sense lol.
I think that legally changing your name sounds complicated and like a lot of work in the long run, and I wonder if maybe you could keep your name (which I actually do think suits and fits your photo as well as all of the criteria you gave really well) and start strictly going by a loosely related nickname that has the lighter and more refined feel you seem to be desiring: [name_f]Ava[/name_f] or Anna/Annie or perhaps even go by Rose…?
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] – fits the same style of [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and is short and sweet like [name_f]Elle[/name_f]. Also might feel like an entirely different name too as it has a lighter sound.
Anna/Annie – classy, strong and feminine, sounds very similar to [name_f]Emma[/name_f] which you said you also enjoy, and can be easily stepped into without going through the whole rigmarole of changing your name.
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] – I’ve known quite a few people that have gone by their middles and it works. I find [name_f]Rose[/name_f] so unexpected yet beautifully classy as a first, it also sounds similar to [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and has that same single-syllable punch to it that [name_f]Elle[/name_f] has.
