Definitely. Totally forgot about [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]! Couldn’t be more spot on.
I think my biggest pet peeve would be nicknames as given names (especially if they end in -ie or -y) e.g. [name_m]Tommy[/name_m] and [name_u]Billy[/name_u]. I am just not a fan of that trend at all. I think the formal versions [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] and [name_m]William[/name_m] are much more classic and versatile.
I wouldn’t say I hate it, but I recently started a new job and meet a ton of kids through it. Respellings of popular names that make reading them out difficult! I’m not talking about [name_f]Alyvia[/name_f], [name_f]Alayna[/name_f], [name_m]Caiden[/name_m], and [name_m]Cayden[/name_m]-- but more [name_f]Kiele[/name_f] (KY lee) & [name_u]Keighley[/name_u] (KAY lee). I understand the intent, but the roster panic is real!
(@Kelby67 I just want to say in defense of "X"avier pronunciations: this is very regional. I’ve never heard [name_m]Xavier[/name_m], and even [name_m]Xander[/name_m] for that matter, pronounced with “Z” where I am, always with a strong X! And [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] always has three syllables!)
I’m actually surprised people are really disliking the “boy names” for girls trend🤔 To each there own.
I absolutely agree with girls & boys names ending with a leigh/ly, they’re my arch nemesis’. Ex) [name_u]Everly[/name_u], [name_f]Kinsleigh[/name_f], [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]
Barmela is not pronounced “barr-muh-luh” it’s pronounced “Buh-mell-uh”
I think I’m a little slow on the uptake today (crazy couple of days), but huh?!?
Barmela! [name_u]Love[/name_u] it. Sounds like a nice caramel candy bar.
Sorry - maybe Barmela is actually a name and I thought you were just making it up as an example.
I was making it up as an example. It does sound like a candy bar now that I think of it (looked it up… it’s a Caramello). [name_f]My[/name_f] sense of humor has been off today and I didn’t catch the meaning straight away as I normally would. I thought someone found it was a real name and was letting me know.
Oh lol sorry I didn’t specify! I meant it as a joke
No worries, my sense of humor has been off the past couple of days. I should get it back tomorrow.
