For me it is [name]Morgan[/name] on a boy. I love it so much and can totally picture having a [name]Morgan[/name]. It fits on my list so well, (well, I have one son and this baby could be a boy too) so I think [name]Morgan[/name] would go great with my son’s name and the boy name we have picked for this baby. He may come around to it if end up having a 3rd boy somewhere down the road, but he thinks it is a girl name. I realize it is, but it is also used on males.
[name]Morgan[/name] almost feels like a battleground. It’s used a lot on girls, but I don’t think of it as only a girl name yet. I’d love to see an influx of little boy Morgans to reclaim it.
I’m not meeting much resistance now, but my ex vetoed pretty much everything I came up with. My favorite girl’s name, [name]Darcy[/name], he said sounded “white trash”. Meanwhile, his son from a previous relationship has a name that I’ve seen show up on many people’s lists of names fitting that particular description. We were able to agree that we both liked [name]Quinn[/name] for a girl, but his last name started with K and I didn’t like the alliteration. He also wanted to use my last name for a boy and while I liked the idea and appreciated that he wanted to use my name, it also starts with a K so I wasn’t really sold on that either. I think I threw out at least 20 names that he shot down. He wound up showing himself to be someone I wouldn’t want to have kids with anyway, but just the process we went through to name our dogs was indicative of how tough it would have been to name a child together.
DH vetoed [name]Esme[/name] for a girl and [name]Arlo[/name] for a boy If our baby is a girl I am happy with our agreed name ([name]Cordelia[/name]). We are still far from finding a boy’s name and we aren’t finding out the sex of our baby…18 weeks to change his mind about [name]Arlo[/name]
[name]Esme[/name] is on my short list for girls (another one the ex gave me an ugly facial expression over) and [name]Arlo[/name] is the name of one of my cats. I like your naming style
I hear you on the [name]Patrick[/name], mine’s worse in that he’s vetoed all Irish names though. [name]May[/name] swing him round when it actually comes to naming a child though.
His rejects from my list:
[name]Alden[/name]- “Like the pond?”
[name]Ethan[/name]- “Too popular”
[name]Finnegan[/name]- just a face
[name]Axel[/name]- “The singer?” (But I did sneak that one is as a mn on the principle that it is a family name)
[name]Emmett[/name]- “seriously?”
[name]Declan[/name]- “seriously?”
Faegan- “What?”
[name]Ansel[/name]- “[name]Do[/name] you like [name]Ansel[/name] [name]Adams[/name] that much?”
My rejects from his list:
[name]Miles[/name]- This has always been a name that I have disliked (He wouldn’t go for [name]Milo[/name] though, which I do like)
[name]Eli[/name]- borderline too biblical for me, plus it will always be associated with a kid in middle school for me
[name]Cyrus[/name]- I don’t like how it sounds
[name]Virgil[/name]- Too close to a virtue name for me
[name]Wally[/name]- no.
[name]Dorian[/name]- this has always sounded feminine to me
[name]Seth[/name]- Another name I have always disliked. I think the ‘th’ ending bugs me.
[name]Cory[/name]- too much association with creepy boys from elementary school
[name]Loki[/name] (I’m not sure he was serious with that one)
[name]Ross[/name]- I don’t like how it sounds
[name]Calvin[/name]- Not sure why, but I dislike this one too. And I don’t like the nn [name]Cal[/name].
All of these reasons where why I didn’t want to use these names. For most of them I would support their use on other people’s children. [name]Just[/name] so long as I didn’t have to call for [name]Seth[/name] to come to dinner every night.
My boyfriend doesn’t like [name]Willa[/name] and [name]Winifred[/name], but I think that’s because it was after he answered/responded to about ten other names first and was getting tired of the game. Which just tells me to start from the bottom of the alphabet next time!
He also didn’t like [name]Willoughby[/name], and said it sounded like wallaby. Then, “could I call her wallaby? Omg that’d be awesome… wallaby…” and then he liked the name! He’s goofy like that. Not convinced he would actually go for the name if we did have a kid, though!
There are loads that I like that my husband won’t consider for a variety of reasons: [name]Max[/name], [name]Milo[/name], [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Felix[/name], [name]Isaac[/name], [name]Julian[/name], [name]Adrian[/name], [name]Phineas[/name], [name]John[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Thomas[/name]
