They don’t have to have great meanings, sound great or are even names you love, but what names just look lovely to you?
I have always found names like [name_f]Maia[/name_f] and [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] so aesthetically pleasing. They are just so nice to look at lol. Same with [name_f]Freya[/name_f], but I love that name as a whole. On the boys’ side, I think names like [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m], [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m], [name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m] etc are aesthetically pleasing. The -ah and -iah endings are so nice on the eyes! Especially [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m], which hits the “aia” part I love as well as the “iah” ending. Swoon.
Other names that come to mind:
[name_f]Cynthia[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Brittany[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] (especially this, it twists my tongue and sounds awful to me but looks so great!)
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelie[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] (same as [name_f]Aurora[/name_f])
[name_u]Wynn[/name_u]
[name_f]Acacia[/name_f] and [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]
[name_u]Beau[/name_u] is the only boy name I can think of right now, other than the -ah and -iah ending ones above.
What names look so aesthetically pleasing to you? Names that are just oh so, SO nice to look at.
[name_f]Salvadora[/name_f]! I’m not fond of the name itself but I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] how [name_f]Salvadora[/name_f] looks. It’s so many different colours in a nice pattern which sounds odd but it is. I have it written in one of my name documents in big letters so I can just admire it.
[name_f]Emilie[/name_f]
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_m]Ivan[/name_m]
[name_u]Ollie[/name_u]
[name_f]Marja[/name_f]
[name_f]Bree[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]
[name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_f]Lili[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] (but not [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f])
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_m]Enzo[/name_m]
Ehm, good question, though I think for me disliking and liking a name is always a combination of sound and look, so names that I generally am not a fan of, I don’t find aesthetically pleasing.
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] - this looks (and sounds) gorgeous
[name_m]Miles[/name_m] - I love the sleek look of it
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] - the v adds a sophisticated touch a very fun looking name
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] - also like the sleekness of this one
[name_m]George[/name_m] / [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] - both look fun but sound very classic, I love that combination
[name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] - love that strong double T at the end and the softer [name_f]Hen[/name_f] beginning
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_m]Hector[/name_m]
[name_m]Edgar[/name_m], [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] - love the fun dg & r of [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] and the sleek dm of [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] followed by the d at the end, the E & d frame the rest of the name
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u], [name_m]Beckett[/name_m], [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] - I like the balance of the double letters in the beginning and end, [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] is on that list as ck is somewhat of a double letter to me
I think it’d be easier for me to pin-point what I don’t like.
Mylah is a name I saw recently that I just love the look of. The actual name itself I’m not too bothered about but that spelling just looks so lovely to me.
[name_f]Brie[/name_f] is also a name where it looks nice to me despite me not being too into the name.
[name_f]Aria[/name_f]/[name_f]Ariah[/name_f] and Aralyn are just two examples of names I like that also look good to me. Too tired to think of any more atm haha
I have to agree with you on [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m], [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m], [name_m]Jermiah[/name_m] are pleasing to me in every sense. Look, and sound wise, to me. I love these names, and any form of [name_m]Zach[/name_m] is my weakness. Sadly, it will always be a love of mine.
[name_f]Everleigh[/name_f] is another one I like the look of, same as [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]. I would love to use [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u], I think it looks good (I have a thing for Au- names too it seems) but it’s so trendy. I’d never use [name_f]Everleigh[/name_f] because I don’t like how it sounds, or the fact it’s a messy spelling, OR that it sounds like [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] (every other mum is called [name_f]Beverly[/name_f] here it seems!) but I like looking at it.
There is/was a [name_u]Berry[/name_u] (before i joined) who has the correct terminology for what I am attempting to describe. When you write a name- for me - its the amount and/or balance of letters that are above and below the straight line. So - a c e i m n o r s u v w x z ,dependent on your particular script are boring.
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f]-it looks awful. [name_f]Brighid[/name_f] is good. Plenty of b d f g h j k l p q t 's.
[name_f]Philippa[/name_f] (It sounds really weird when I say it out loud but it looks elegant)
[name_f]Marianne[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurore[/name_f]/[name_f]Aurelie[/name_f]
[name_m]Isaiah[/name_m]
Saw a bunch I agree with! [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Juliette[/name_f], [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f], [name_f]Celia[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], and [name_m]Magnus[/name_m].
I really love how [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] looks but the sound isn’t my favorite. When I first saw it I thought it would be pronounced Im-oh-Ghen instead of [name_f]Em[/name_f]-oh-[name_f]Jen[/name_f].
I’m partial to “[name_f]Lily[/name_f]/[name_f]Lila[/name_f]/Lae” names! I have no idea what it is! [name_f]Lilias[/name_f], [name_f]Lilya[/name_f], [name_f]Laelia[/name_f], [name_f]Liliana[/name_f], [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], [name_f]Lillith[/name_f], etc. I don’t think I would use one as a first name, maybe a middle… but I definitely love the way they look.
And most [name_m]French[/name_m] girl names as well. [name_f]Arianne[/name_f], [name_f]Abrielle[/name_f], [name_f]Oceanne[/name_f], [name_f]Orianne[/name_f], etc… so pretty!
Generally I don’t feel too strongly about single names on their own, though, I do find some combos and sibsets pleasing, and it seems to be based on a similarity of letters.
That said, I can tell you that I find the ae letter combination aesthetically displeasing (and giggle because I had to use it to write the words used to express that displeasure)
I hadn’t thought of that but you’re right! I don’t know if the number above and below the line needs to be even but it does subtley affect the look of a name.
I disagree with the ae comment. I’ve always felt [name_u]Michael[/name_u] was aesthetically pleasing, and it’s the ae that draws me toward it. Perhaps I don’t feel the same way about [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], though.
Right now I’m in love with the look of [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] and [name_f]Annemarie[/name_f] ([name_f]Annemarie[/name_f] especially when written in cursive).
