When I was younger, I love the name [name]Angelica[/name], but as you said, the selfish and spoilt girl at the rugrats wreck it! I also used to love Jassmine (huge Aladin fan), but like you said, the nickname is not as good as the name!
When I was 3 or 4, I wanted to be a [name]Soledad[/name] or a [name]Wendy[/name], rigth now I like [name]Soledad[/name], but [name]Wendy[/name]… is not my style anymore!
I’ve always loved names but my taste has really changed. When I was 2 I had a doll named [name]Britney[/name], and twin dolls named [name]Kelly[/name] and Tissue. Let’s just say my favorite of those now is Tissue.
I think my taste really started to change when I was a preteen. I wrote a lot of stories so I used lots of names. I even made some up. Here are some that I used: [name]Joby[/name], [name]Kathryn[/name], [name]Vera[/name], Scardonna, [name]Grant[/name], [name]Eros[/name], [name]Lily[/name], Nison, [name]Molly[/name], [name]Alexis[/name](for a boy!), [name]Duncan[/name], Keetan and [name]Alice[/name]. I don’t love any of these now but they’re not horrible either.
I loved the name Kayilee (this spelling) and [name]Emily[/name]. I also liked unisex names for girls such as [name]Regan[/name] and [name]Riley[/name].
Never liked my name as a kid, but now I love it.
In middle school I used to envy girl names like [name]Kelly[/name], [name]Tania[/name], [name]Tammy[/name], [name]Tatiana[/name],… [name]Epiphany[/name] was a play name for one of my dolls which I thought was cool. I also loved [name]Emma[/name]. I knew a girl in College with the first name [name]Garbo[/name] (after [name]Greta[/name] presumably) and being a film buff I thought that was fabulous. But today nobody I know approves of using it.
If your name is [name]Dahlia[/name], you have an amazing name! It so sweet and cute! One of this flower names, that nobody uses, but that is extremly beautiful. It sounds a bit old lady.
I also hate my name when I was younger, i thougth it was too hard for a girl, now I like how elegant it is.
By the way, my name is [name]Pilar[/name], but I usually go by [name]Pili[/name] or Pipi!
I used to love names from movies and books.
Always had a soft spot for Disney names. Wanted to call my future son [name]Sebastian[/name] after the crab from the little mermaid. [name]Future[/name] daughters would probably be [name]Aurora[/name] (sleeping beauty) and [name]Fern[/name] ([name]Charlotte[/name]'s [name]Web[/name]). Oh and I loved Eilonwy and [name]Taran[/name] from the black cauldron, don’t know if that was disney. And [name]April[/name] because of TMNT lol. As I got older I liked Athurian legend names like [name]Morgana[/name] and [name]Guinevere[/name] & [name]Merlin[/name]. And names I read in books like [name]Edmund[/name], [name]Maximilian[/name] (so bad lol), [name]Alphonse[/name], Melliora. I liked really frilly or foreign sounding names.
This is an interesting topic. I recently found a list of favorite names I made in 1994 (when I was 12). I’ve also included the reasons I liked the names, if I can remember them. They are:
[name]Abigail[/name]
[name]Augusta[/name]
[name]Bridget[/name] (because of model [name]Bridget[/name] Moynahan)
[name]Cassandra[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] (a [name]Baby[/name]-Sitters Club character)
[name]Christianne[/name] (popular girl at school)
[name]Claudia[/name] ([name]Baby[/name]-Sitters Club character)
[name]Dahlia[/name]
[name]Della[/name] (a glamorous character in a book I read; can’t remember the title)
[name]Evelyn[/name] (one of my friends at the time)
[name]Hanna[/name] ([name]Andrea[/name]'s baby on 90210; I preferred the name without an H at the end)
[name]Helena[/name] ([name]Helena[/name] Christensen)
[name]Hilary[/name] (a character on The Fresh [name]Prince[/name] of [name]Bel[/name]-[name]Air[/name])
[name]Isabel[/name] (figure skater [name]Isabelle[/name] Brasseur; I preferred this spelling)
[name]Jennifer[/name] (I liked the nn [name]Jenny[/name])
[name]Karen[/name]
[name]Madeline[/name]
[name]Pamela[/name]
[name]Rebecca[/name]
[name]Vanessa[/name]
[name]Whitney[/name]
I think I had pretty good taste! I still like most of these names.
Some of the names you liked are gorgeuse! I love [name]Augusta[/name], [name]Madeleine[/name], [name]Rebecca[/name], [name]Dahlia[/name], [name]Della[/name]. You were really stylish!
It’s so interesting to know, how many teens (as me) are fond of names! In your case you were just 12 when you make this list!
Let’s continue! I love reading all the names you post here!
I remember when I was about 4 or 5, I went through phases where I would “change my name”, almost on a weekly or so basis. It really tapered off just as i turned 6. Ones I remember were:
[name]Sonya[/name] (from [name]Peter[/name] and the [name]Wolf[/name])
[name]Peter[/name] (very strange, seeing as I’m female… got this from [name]Peter[/name] and the [name]Wolf[/name] also. I’ve always loved it!)
[name]Russell[/name] (from Once Upon A [name]Forest[/name])
Figaro (from Pinocchio)
[name]Nala[/name] (from The [name]Lion[/name] [name]King[/name], of course)
[name]Nala[/name] is wonderful! And Figaro is nice too! From stories I remeber I used to love [name]Amy[/name], [name]Meg[/name], [name]Josephine[/name] or [name]Beth[/name] (huge “litttle woman” fan!) in fact I still love [name]Josephine[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name]
I had a list before joining my very first naming board at the tender age of 14. It consisted of [name]Aurora[/name] Chaos (yes, first and middle and anyone from babynamesworld will know who I am, lol, it was my screen name there) [name]Octavia[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name] were also prominent on my list, with an array of masculine nonsense. I also had a love affair with [name]Draven[/name], [name]Archer[/name], and [name]Cedric[/name] for boys. And [name]Kieran[/name] - can’t forget about him. I’m off that spelling now and would go for the traditional [name]Ciaran[/name], I still adore the name.
Luckily, my taste has matured and been refined over the years.
As a toddler, I named my favorite Cabbage Patch Kid, Creep. I think my parents were worried about me. Later, When I was seven, my mother was pregnant and I hoped I would be getting twin baby brothers and that they would be called [name]Tim[/name] and [name]Tom[/name]. Instead, my little sister was born. I begged my parents to name her [name]Megan[/name] or [name]Brittany[/name]. Nearly twenty years later, I am glad they went with a less common choice.
When I was younger, I really, reallllly loved the name [name]Kristin[/name]. I still do like it, but I doubt I would ever name my child that.
Also for boys, I liked [name]Nicholas[/name] (which ended up being my little brother’s middle name)
@cherrysoda99: It’s so sweet when older kids name their silblings! Specially if they choce good names! [name]Nicholas[/name] is really cute. It makes me think in a boyfriend, who loves this name!
@leafleigh: [name]Teddy[/name] bears and all that type os stuff, is a great way to practice with names. When I was a kid I had a doll called [name]Alicia[/name], and a [name]Barbie[/name] called [name]Soledad[/name]. I also remember a teddy bears called Mambo. My sister named her barbies [name]Sandy[/name] and Fandy :o
Now my teddy bears are:
[name]Poppy[/name] [name]Borboleta[/name] [name]June[/name] - A little dog. [name]Borboleta[/name] means butterfly in Portuguese.
[name]Patricio[/name] Neptuno [name]Lennon[/name] Lille - A green star.
[name]Gaia[/name] Eyre [name]Blanche[/name] - A white cat.
[name]Clementina[/name] [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Fleur[/name] - An orange elephant, with a pink flower.
[name]Ringo[/name] [name]Canela[/name] - A dog, that plays the drums.
Nut Scarlata [name]Gala[/name] - Another star, this is red.
Well, I’m 14, but I admit, I still sleep with [name]Poppy[/name], Nut and [name]Patricio[/name]!
@flick : I think that [name]Octavia[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name] are great names, and [name]Cedric[/name] is not so bad. Rigth now I just can think in [name]Cedric[/name] Diggory (a character from [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name]) when I say it!
I think I’ve pretty much always been into names! I’m almost 22 now, and I can remember when I was 12 I wanted thee girls called [name]Cassie[/name], [name]Ashlee[/name] and [name]Brooke[/name]. I still think they make cute, very ‘American’ sister names but definitely not something I’d use! I had a leaning towards what I’d call ‘all-American’ style names - [name]Evan[/name] etc.
I also loved the name [name]Kaylen[/name] (pronounced kay-len obviously!) and I remember trying so hard to find a spelling I liked to no avail! I considered [name]Kaelyn[/name], [name]Kaylyn[/name], [name]Kaylen[/name], [name]Kailyn[/name]… none of them stood out as ‘the’ spelling which was when I decided it wasn’t for me. I still think it has a pretty sound but I still don’t like any spelling variation of it… plus it doesn’t match with any other names I like now!
My favourite names as of now (I think… they’re constantly changing) are [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Isabel[/name], [name]Amelia[/name], [name]Phoebe[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Imogen[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]Finnian[/name], [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Charles[/name], so yes I think it’s changed quite a lot!
My favorites in my middle school years were [name]Nava[/name] [name]Dean[/name], [name]Lola[/name] and [name]Charli[/name] for girls (how’s that for a sibset ?! hahaa) and I was always planning on adopting an African boy and name him Nwoye.
When I was 5 years old I told very seriously told my mom that I would name my first daughter Pocahontas. I’m now 20-something, and to this day she tells me that when I have a daughter, she expects to see Pocahontas written down on the birth certificate. Any time my future children come up in conversation, she teasingly refers to a potential daughter as ‘little Pocahontas’.
‘Floridia’ was a name I liked around 8, then [name]Melanie[/name] and [name]Miranda[/name].
[name]Flick[/name] - I remember you from babynamesworld! I always thought [name]Aurora[/name] Chaos was pretty, and wished I’d thought of it My name there was [name]November[/name], but I wasn’t a continual poster.
@chelseamae Haha, [name]Lola[/name] and [name]Charli[/name] reminds me of the Playhouse Disney show “[name]Charlie[/name] and [name]Lola[/name]”.
@flick: [name]Aurora[/name] Chaos sounds like a really cool comic book cahracter or something of the sort. I’d be too chicken to use something like that in real life, but I always try to come up with superhero type names for characters I draw.
Lol, I heard the name from [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name]. The connection doesn’t bother me one bit, though, I’m a HUGE HP fan (I even have a HP tattoo). [name]Cedric[/name] might make his way back on my list, I’m doing a total overhaul right now.
