We have 2 children and 1 on the way. He knows i love the name [name]Ava[/name]. Hes known that for a long time! He says it sounds like a trashy person. He has always loved the name [name]Erik[/name]. It reminds me of a dork! I also hate [name]Erika[/name]. [name]Just[/name] not my taste! Sorry to offend anyone!
I love the name [name]Olivia[/name]. He hates it. He likes [name]Curtis[/name] nn [name]Cort[/name]. I think it is just an okay name.
He likes [name]Zuleika[/name], which I just can’t completely warm up to. I love [name]Lucy[/name] (pardon the pun) and he thinks it’s too simple. That’s about the biggest disagreement we have going, girls wise.
On the boys side, he adores [name]Tiberius[/name] and [name]Xerxes[/name], neither of which are my cup of tuna. I love [name]Francis[/name] ([name]Frank[/name]) & [name]Arthur[/name] and he thinks they’re too common.
My favorite for girls is [name]Louisa[/name], he hates it. He likes [name]Mindy[/name]. Um, no. For boys, amazingly enough we are at least in the same book if not the same page
I love these girls’ names, but he hates them:
[name]Matilda[/name]
[name]Millicent[/name]
[name]Sylvia[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]
I don’t think he likes [name]Iris[/name].
[name]Vivian[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Lillian[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] - if I ask him whether he likes [name]Penelope[/name], he answers, no, but I like [name]Veronica[/name]. He used to be stuck on the name [name]Laura[/name], but after we named our daughter [name]Laura[/name], he became stuck on [name]Veronica[/name]. That’s fine because [name]Veronica[/name] is utterly gorgeous and not popular.
I love these boys’ names, he hates them:
[name]Magnus[/name]
[name]Henry[/name]
I think he doesn’t like [name]Miles[/name].
I don’t think he likes [name]Lionel[/name], but I could probably get him to like it if I wanted to.
I just asked him to think of some more. He says he needs time to think about it. I doubt he will. He wants to watch the Dodgers instead. He does hate [name]Barry[/name] Bonds and all the Yankees. Sorry, we are from L.A. after all. He loves the [name]Red[/name] Sox. We went to Fenway [name]Park[/name]. I love the Cardinals, cause I love their logo. But I love the Dodgers so much that when they win and they play “I [name]Love[/name] L.A.”, I get tears in my eyes. If [name]Kent[/name] really likes a sports figure, he often likes their name. Unless it’s really awful.
Girls’ names he loves, but I don’t like:
[name]Naomi[/name]
[name]Olivia[/name] - I love it, but it’s so popular.
Probably there are more, but I don’t know what they are.
Boy’s names he loves, but I don’t like:
[name]Leonard[/name]
[name]Stephen[/name] - actually I love the name [name]Stephen[/name] so much, but it is so out of style now.
Some names we both like:
Girls:
[name]Veronica[/name]
[name]Anna[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name] - but he hates [name]Carrie[/name].
I think he might like [name]Fiona[/name].
Boys:
[name]William[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name] - [name]Kent[/name] is kind of stuck on this name, too. It’s a great name!
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Vincent[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Philip[/name]
[name]Jack[/name]
[name]James[/name]
[name]Andrew[/name]
We agree about a lot of boys’ names actually. We have way more trouble with girls’ names.
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Mateo[/name] (or [name]Matteo[/name]) and DH hates it! He thinks it would sound strange with our very Scottish last name. Ug.
He loves [name]Duncan[/name], a family name that I am open to as a MN, but I just can’t do it as a first name (I think “Dunkin Donuts” or “[name]Duncan[/name] [name]Hines[/name]”)
barnaby. every time i mention it, he says barnaby joOOOOOooones. for the full effect, imagine a ghost impression during the long O part.
on the other hand, every time i ask him to think of a boy name, he thinks for several minutes, then says “phillip!” this has happened no fewer than ten times; phillip is always the result. i’m not sure why it takes him several minutes to come up with the same answer [name]EVERY[/name] TIME.
I love [name]Paloma[/name], [name]Beatrix[/name], and [name]Francesca[/name] but he’s set on [name]Ada[/name] or [name]Adelia[/name] (which are also lovely, but the others have a bit more spunk).
For the fellas, I love [name]Hugo[/name], [name]Jasper[/name] and [name]Winston[/name], all of which he absolutely hates. Luckily we both agreed on [name]Luca[/name], our newborn’s name”although when I first mentioned it years ago he didn’t like it one bit. So maybe there’s hope for my other favorites
[name]Do[/name] you think men’s and women’s opinions diverge more when it comes to boys’ names than girls’ names?
Im not very sure on that one. I think with boy names they always want the so called “cool” names.
[name]Pam[/name], we agree more on boys names & disagree with the girls. Our boys lists are always far more cohesive than the girls!
we also agree on boys names far more then girls
My husband usually likes more common names & I typically like more unusual names, so we often disagree! We have an easier time with girls names because I like a lot of classically feminine names that aren’t super popular and he likes them too. We both like [name_f]Celia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] for instance. But, I really like [name_f]Neve[/name_f] and when I mention it to him to try to convince him, he looks at me like I have three heads! But he loves [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], which seems like a name he wouldn’t like! I’m still working on [name_f]Neve[/name_f] Boys are harder for us because he sees teasing potential with so many names!! I say [name_m]Finnigan[/name_m] and he says how about something normal like [name_m]Peter[/name_m]?? I say [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and he says its nerdy. I say a friend named her son [name_u]Owen[/name_u], and he says, I don’t want my son “[name_u]Owen[/name_u] money” his whole life!! Forget anything unisex! Except…he loves [name_u]Sage[/name_u] for a boy because it’s the name of a male snowboarder? We found a great compromise with our first son because we both liked [name_m]Colin[/name_m] but I wanted something more unusual. We found [name_m]Conall[/name_m] when we were in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] and he loved it!
Basically my husband dislikes my entire guilty pleasure list, so sad.
The only names that I can think of that he likes and I dislike are [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]. Not a fan of either one.
I definitely think it’s easier for my hubby and I to agree on boy names than it is for us to agree on girl names.
:: Laughing ::
I love [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]. He vetoed those. Why? Those names are beautiful and go with our children’s names of [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m].
There is no name he LOVES that I wouldn’t consider, so he always wins, which ticks me off, but whaddyagonnado?
I love [name_m]Oren[/name_m], which my husband hates. He loves [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] but I am not a fan.
I experience equal divergence.
