I’m really interested by the trends that come and go on here and I’m wondering what names you think have nameberry favourite potential? I’ve been noticing [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] a lot so I feel like that could be a big one
Kit is a favourite, so maybe [name_m]Kip[/name_m]?
Names I’m seeing more and more of include [name_f]Sosie[/name_f], [name_f]Morrigan[/name_f], [name_f]Honey[/name_f] and -beth names such as Ellabeth and Emmabeth.
I’ve also noticed an increase in ‘two-parted’ nature/word names, such as Blackbird, Waterlily, or Stargazer.
Birdie, [name_u]Lark[/name_u] and [name_f]Sosie[/name_f] spring to mind
[name_f]Edit[/name_f]: I’d also add flower names, more unusual than [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is a big one, maybe [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u]
Totally agree!
I also can see more -er names like [name_u]Oleander[/name_u] and [name_m]Elmer[/name_m]
In the wake of names like [name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m] and [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] I could definitely see more unusual nature names catching on such as Hemlock, Jackdaw, [name_f]Carnation[/name_f], [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u].
Also maybe 50’s/60’s nicknames like [name_f]Susie[/name_f] and [name_f]Judy[/name_f].
I soooo see [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] and [name_f]Susie[/name_f]
I’m loving [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f]’s recent choice of Hawke and feel that this definitely fits in the strong masculine word name trend a la [name_u]Fox[/name_u] and such names
I agree with [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] and other unique nature names. And [name_f]Susie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sosie[/name_f] seem to be getting more traction, so maybe [name_u]Josie[/name_u], [name_f]Dotty[/name_f] and names similar to this.
I agree about [name_f]Sosie[/name_f]! I’ve also been seeing more lately of [name_f]Anouk[/name_f], [name_f]Verity[/name_f], [name_f]Ida[/name_f], [name_f]Maple[/name_f], [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], and [name_u]Billie[/name_u] for girls and [name_u]Ira[/name_u], [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m], [name_m]Bram[/name_m], [name_u]Perry[/name_u] for boys. Lots of nickname names lately!
So true! I’ve especially noticed [name_f]Verity[/name_f], [name_f]Maple[/name_f], [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] & [name_m]Bram[/name_m] as names that were not in as many UCs before but are in loads now
Frida (especially with [name_f]Freya[/name_f] so high), [name_f]Vesta[/name_f], [name_f]Auria[/name_f], [name_m]Florent[/name_m], [name_u]Amory[/name_u]… it sort of shocks me how low [name_u]Amory[/name_u] is! It feels very in line with nb’s current tastes.
I’m a big [name_u]Amory[/name_u]/Amaury fan and I’m always surprised by that too but also in a way smugly glad because I want it to stay unusual lol
I really like [name_f]Nettie[/name_f] but [name_f]Sally[/name_f] doesn’t feel ready for a comeback to me haha it’s still a middle aged mum name in my mind
Sally is actually a surprisingly popular name for late teens-early 20s in my area so I find it too dated for the “wrong” generation
That’s so interesting! All the Sallys I’ve met are 50-60 years old
Hmm… off the top of my head:
- older sister had 2 friends named Sally
- cousin named Sally after great aunt Sunny
- my best friend was Bar mitzvahed with a Sally
- at one point, both morning announcers at my school were named Sally (Sally and Sally2)
- student teachers at my Hebrew school (15-18 years old) were named either Rebecca (but mostly called Rivka) or Sally if a girl. No in between
As well as multiple older relatives named Sally too. I think the fact that Sara is such a common Hebrew name here really skews my experience.
The more I think about it I do think [name_f]Sally[/name_f] could work I just wouldn’t associate it with being something that’s on the verge of trendy necessarily. [name_f]Sally[/name_f] [name_m]Draper[/name_m] gives me very much cool mad men vibes
That’s interesting too because the only [name_f]Sally[/name_f] I know is around my age.
I’m a young teen.
And yes, [name_f]Nettie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sally[/name_f] deserve the comeback!
I say [name_f]Eluned[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsinore[/name_f] have potential! It has the [name_f]El[/name_f]- we all love so… yeah!
Seen [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] cropping up a lot lately
I’ve never met a [name_f]Sally[/name_f]! I think they’re aren’t anymore living where I am. So maybe it’s ready here? It is cute
