What names do your hubbys/significant others love?

I’m hoping some of your answers give me some insight to what guys like in a name, perhaps I’ll get fewer vetoes from mine

Oh, I love this thread idea!

My boyfriend likes:
[name]Taylor[/name] on a girl
[name]Charlotte[/name], he loves loves [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Gemma[/name]
[name]Seraphina[/name]
[name]Gabriela[/name]
[name]Alexia[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Aurelia[/name]

His taste in boys names is far more ancient, roman, history filled. Things like [name]Cato[/name], and [name]Theodoric[/name], [name]Augustus[/name] etc.

My husband is usually kind of ho-hum on names, he lets me mostly choose but here are a few he really likes.

[name]Elena[/name](pronounced like [name]Alayna[/name])
[name]Anneliese[/name](he particularly likes the [name]German[/name] pronunciation [name]Ah[/name]-nuh-lee-zuh)
Marcale
[name]Madelyn[/name] and [name]Madeline[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Elise[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name]

It depends on the guy if course, but generally I think guys like…

Familiar names (especially pretty girl type names)
[name]Isabella[/name]
[name]Ashley[/name]
[name]Jessica[/name]
[name]Amanda[/name]
[name]Miranda[/name]

Nerd Names (like something from a comic, video game, mythology or middle earth)
Arwyn
Gweneviere
[name]Zelda[/name]
[name]Athena[/name]

Names that are pretty or romantic
[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Francesca[/name]

Or sexy feeling
[name]Lacey[/name]
[name]Cynthia[/name]
[name]Samantha[/name]

I find that a lot of men can’t get into old fashioned names that aren’t on the popular side yet. Like while [name]Amelia[/name] or [name]Cecilia[/name] might be fine [name]Althea[/name] or [name]Beatrice[/name] end up vetoed! At least over here they do…

Mine definitely isn’t going for old fashioned, maybe I should try the middle earth suggestion. My husband may fall into the nerd category a bit. Although he’s been suggesting very girly, popular names. No good!

My husband thinks his taste in names for girls in ultra feminine. I don’t know if I agree. He has only ever suggested 5 names in the almost 7 years we have been together. lol
[name]Autumn[/name]
[name]Chloe[/name]
[name]Daisy[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Della[/name]> this one shocked me

As for his taste in boy names, he has only ever agreed with me on two names and never offered any other name suggestions.
[name]Eli[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name]

My husband likes [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Liv[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Lorelei[/name], [name]Elle[/name]…(likes very girly names and thinks many of mine, like [name]Liza[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], and [name]Margot[/name] are too “hard”)

His favorite boys names is [name]Liam[/name], followed by [name]Aidan[/name]. He seems stuck on Irish names (which I think sound confused on a boy with a very Polish last name who will likely grow up in both Poland and the US, oh well)

My ex loved:
[name]Teresa[/name]
[name]Tina[/name]
[name]Lisa[/name]
[name]Heather[/name]
[name]Samantha[/name]
[name]Ashley[/name]

Never did find out what he liked for a boy.

My husband’s favorite names—(unfortunately, I don’t really like any of them)

[name]Cora[/name]
[name]Lyla[/name]
[name]Esther[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name]
[name]Adrienne[/name]
[name]Ellie[/name]

I know he likes

[name]Grace[/name]
[name]Holly[/name]
[name]Evelyn[/name]

We cant seem to agree on girls names so normally stay clear of talking about them

[name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Emily[/name]
[name]Lauren[/name]
[name]Leah[/name]

I’m not sure how I got so lucky, but my boyfriend has little to know opinion on names. He has already told me that when we have children I can name them (girl or boy). His only real opinion is he doesn’t like most noun names ([name]Clover[/name], [name]River[/name], [name]Sienna[/name], etc). Easy enough to deal with.

When I asked him to give me a couple names for this post he said, “you like that [name]Rosalind[/name] name, so just put that”.

My husband likes [name]Savannah[/name]. It is the only girl name I can think of that he has ever suggested. Mostly he vetoes until he finds something he likes, then that is the name. For boys he likes [name]Damian[/name], and he mentioned [name]Dev[/name] a while back.

My husband has never actually suggested any names, he just goes over my lists and tells me which ones he likes. I’ve noticed he tends to like Ancient Greek and [name]Roman[/name] names because he’s a history buff, anything with a cool story and roots. I could pretty much talk him into anything if I really wanted to, but he is adamant on the few names he doesn’t like and definitely will not let me use for first names ([name]Willow[/name], [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name]) He is older than me and has a 15 year old daughter from a previous relationship and her name is [name]Lyric[/name], he named her so maybe that hints more at his style?

My OH and I don’t have similar taste in names at all. Names are far more important to me than they are to him, so he humours me. Our general system is that I make suggestions and he chooses his favourites from those. Its the only way we can compromise, because I find the names he suggests awful!

Because I get to make all the suggestions I usually allow names he really likes to make our top few choices, even though I might be lukewarm on a name.

Previous name suggestions from him:

[name]Jessica[/name]
[name]Megan[/name]
[name]Allie[/name]
[name]Jennifer[/name]
[name]Ellie[/name]
[name]Katie[/name]
[name]Zoe[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name]
[name]Sarah[/name]
[name]Leanna[/name]
[name]Shannon[/name]

[name]Tyler[/name]
[name]Jayden[/name]
[name]Ben[/name]
[name]Tom[/name]
[name]Zach[/name]
[name]Brandon[/name]
[name]Jason[/name]

Needless to say, none of those ever made a short list!

Haha, my husband is the same way! All of his suggestions sound (to me) so common and dull. His favorite boy name is [name]Jason[/name], which is a nice name but way too common for my taste. Most of the names I’ve suggested he’s shot down, but a few are growing on him (thankfully).

My husband had more say in the names of our first 2 daughters than I did!

He loves cutesy, nicknamey or flowery names that end in ‘ee’ for girls like [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Halle[/name], [name]Maisie[/name], [name]Lily[/name], [name]Evie[/name], [name]Edie[/name], [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Annie[/name], [name]Ivy[/name] (our pick for girl #4)
For boys he likes strong, short names like [name]Jack[/name], [name]Jude[/name], [name]Zeke[/name], [name]Abe[/name], [name]Mac[/name] and also musical names like [name]Elvis[/name], [name]Lennon[/name] and [name]Hendrix[/name]. Then there’s [name]Sonny[/name] and [name]Henry[/name].

He doesn’t do too badly for a bloke

Mine loves [name]Mia[/name] and [name]Tabitha[/name].

I don’t have much to add, except that my husband suggested [name]Constance[/name], and I showed some slight interest in it. That may have been a big mistake… He now is stuck on [name]Constance[/name] and thinks it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread. He is dead set on [name]Constance[/name] and will not change his mind, (the irony of this is not lost on me!)

He’s not completely unreasonable, and he’s willing to compromise. I just think it’s funny he got so dead set on the name [name]Constance[/name]… of all the ironic names!

my SO doesn’t give me names but instead let’s me make all my crazy lists and listens to each change (which is fairly often) and barely vetoes anything, which is a wise choice  haha
