I didn’t realize until today, but Hekate doesn’t appear to be here. It’s just the Greek form of [name_f]Hecate[/name_f], the [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] of crossroads and witchcraft. It is thought to mean far off.

Also, Yve, a form of [name_m]Yves[/name_m]. Its [name_u]French[/name_u], and mostly used for boys but I think it could be feminine too as a spelling variation of [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or a nickname for [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] or [name_f]Yvette[/name_f]. It could derive from either [name_m]Ivo[/name_m] meaning yew or [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] which comes from John/Ioannes/Yochanan/Johanan meaning Yahweh is gracious

I finally found a name I’ve been looking for for ages. It’s Sanika, a feminine name of Sanskrit origin meaning “Flute”.

a bit of a backstory

I had a really close friend when I was about 6 or 7 called Sanika, nn [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]. She moved away and I didn’t have any way to contact her. I often wonder how she’s doing now. When I joined nameberry I tried to find her name, however I could only remember the sound but not the spelling. The other day I was going through primary school photos and found the class photo from when we were in the same class and it had her name on it. I’m so happy I finally found her name! I really hope you’re doing well [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]!

I’d like to suggest Rosangela.

It’s a combination of [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] and [name_f]Angela[/name_f] used primarily in [name_u]Brazil[/name_u] but it has also been used in [name_f]Italy[/name_f], Luxembourg, Spain, Cape [name_f]Verde[/name_f], and the Dominican Republic (and likely in other countries as well). It was in the top 15 feminine names in [name_u]Brazil[/name_u] throughout the 1960s and 70s, today it ranks in the 400s there. There is also a Dominican-Puerto Rican singer who goes by the one name Rosangela (it is her real first name in addition to her stage name) who has appeared on Latin American Idol. Rosângela is another spelling.

I wanted to suggest Ælfgifu/Aelfgifu- its an Anglo-Saxon personal feminine name and means [name_f]Elf[/name_f] (aelf) [name_u]Gift[/name_u] (gifu). I think its quite pretty and it also has a few famous bearers, including Aelfgifu of [name_u]York[/name_u] (Queen of [name_u]England[/name_u] in the late 900s), and it was also given as a name to [name_f]Emma[/name_f] of Normandy (mother of [name_u]Edward[/name_u] the Confessor, last Anglo-Saxon king before the [name_m]Norman[/name_m] invasion in 1066) when she became [name_f]Queen[/name_f] of [name_u]England[/name_u] in 1002. The name was used for her in all official court documents. Its regal and very medieval sounding and I have not been able to find it on Nameberry!
Thanks <3
