What names have we missed?

I thought I noted this already, but I guess not (at least not in this thread)…

You have an entry for [name]Yuri[/name] as a Russian male name, but entering the address for girl [name]Yuri[/name] redirects to that page, and it shouldn’t. [name]Yuri[/name] is a Japanese female name meaning “lily”.

[name]Amaya[/name] is presumably mainly used by people who don’t know it’s Japanese (and presumably said the Basque way, which I doubt is the same as the Japanese way). Unless I’m missing something, that leaves [name]Yuri[/name] the fourth-commonest Japanese name used on girls in the US, behind Sayuri (#3, which you also don’t have an entry for), [name]Sakura[/name] (#2) and the unisex [name]Akira[/name] (#1). Actually, it’s the fourth-commonest Japanese name in the US, period. No Japanese name is as common on boys.

Leotie (American [name]Indian[/name]: flower of the prairie)

Daenery (literature name: A Song of Ice and [name]Fire[/name])

Renly (literature name: A Song of Ice and [name]Fire[/name])

Tinder (word name)

Evijan

Acer (Latin: unity)

Banaj (Hindu: [name]Lotus[/name])

Starratt (Scottish: bridge over bogs)

Devrim- turkish for revolution (and my absolute favorite!) pronounced dev-rim
Cabhan- irish for grassy hill or hollow pronounced cav-an.

Xochitl, one of my favorites. It’s an Nahuatl(Aztec) unisex name used most often for girls because it means flower. It used to be used mainly on boys, however. It’s pronounced SOH-chee.

I love Aztec names, haha. They’re so unusual and have beautiful meanings.

Not sure if this would count, but I know a little boy named Freestone and that isn’t on nameberry.

I have a cousin named Gressa. She claims that its Greek, meaning ‘grace’.
But I looked it up, and the more common spelling seems to be Gresa. And all I can find is that its Norwegian for ‘grass’. Or its also a variant of an Albanian name. So I have yet to validate her story.
Also, I have no idea how those versions of the name are pronounced, but my cousin says it greh-sah.

Allifair. She was one of the [name]McCoy[/name] daughters in the Hatfield [name]McCoy[/name] feud.

Merav - a Hebrew name used in [name]Israel[/name]

Svea - a Swedish name

Dézi

You have an entry for [name]Dezi[/name] as a male name and [name]Desi[/name] for both genders, but this is different. Those are nicknames for names based on the word “desire”, but Dézi is a Hungarian female name pronounced like [name]Daisy[/name]. I’ve heard that’s what it actually is - a Hungarian spelling of an English loanword.

Mirela— variant of [name]Mireille[/name], pronounced like [name]Mirella[/name]. Very, very popular spelling in eastern Europe, especially Croatia.

Also boys name Emeric: Emeric - Meaning of Emeric, What does Emeric mean?. Example: film producer Emeric Pressburger. I love this name!

I don’t think Kyden is here. A friend of mine has an [name]Ethan[/name] Kyden. They wanted to use Kyden as a fn, but felt it was too unusual and would be too hard for him, so they used [name]Ethan[/name] as a fn. [name]Do[/name] you know of a meaning, possibly? Thanks for the site. [name]LOVE[/name] it!

I second the recommendation of Devrim (turkish- revolution)!

Menna
Meinir
Betsan
Teifi

All names I’ve heard on a regular basis in [name]Wales[/name]

I don’t have any names but can I request more pronunciations on names, I am noticing people pronouncing names differently. And lets face it some people look at a name and pronounce it wrong right off the bat. [name]Just[/name] something I came across (been in that situation) thanks best site ever

What about the three musketeers names. D’Artagnan, porthos, athos, aramis.

Pomeline
Briseis
Coppelia

not so much names that you have missed but perhaps more alternative spellings? my mother is a high school teacher and wanted to come up with a name that she not only like but that teachers would always be able to pronounce - a phonetic spelling. I ended up with Sharn, which i love but people sometimes look at me strangely when the see it’s not spelt the traditional way of [name]Sian[/name].

[name]Hi[/name], I just wanted you to add [name]MAIJA[/name] - a variation of the more common ‘[name]Maya[/name], [name]Maia[/name] or [name]Mya[/name]’…Its is the Finnish spelling and is beautiful and unusual.

I also wanted to ask you to add another Finnish spelling of a name you already have…ALIINA instead of [name]Alina[/name]. Very exotic, it is my sister’s name.

I went to graduate school with a girl named Keska which is not in your database.
