So last night I dreamed I had a boy and named him Ries [name_m]Bruno[/name_m], which is interesting because I have never seen the name Ries (pronounced like [name_u]Reese[/name_u]) but it is a real one, meaning “of the sea.”
I just thought it was so interesting what my brain came up with on the fly, because its rather a nice name, and even in my dream it was a rush decision.
So, I’m curious, what names have you dreamed? What was the context, and what do you think of them?
I dreamt I had a son and we named him [name_m]Miller[/name_m]. Completely out of nowhere cause it’s never a name I’ve considered. I wouldn’t use it, but it’s not horrible.
I recently dreamt I had a daughter named Novel. I’m all for word names so this wasn’t unusual. I was pleasantly surprised that I had a “name dream” because I’ve always wanted to know which names float around in my subconscious mind. I searched for Novel as a name and kept finding [name_f]Novella[/name_f], which I don’t like at all. The problem I have with Novel is that it sounds so much better in my head than aloud with my [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m] accent, I guess. When I slow down the pronunciation it sounds much better, but then still reminds me of nozzle. All in all, really interesting name that lead me back to my love of the name [name_f]Poet[/name_f] instead :).
Interesting thread! I dreamed just last night that I had six more kids- all boys! I wrote down their names as soon as I woke up, just so I wouldn’t forget them.
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m]
[name_m]Esau[/name_m]
[name_m]Laban[/name_m]
Jeresiah - not one I’d ever heard before but apparently it’s legitimate
[name_m]Meshach[/name_m]
Nohan - met one yesterday for the first time, and I guess it stuck!
Apparently they all ended up biblical names. lol. The only ones I’d ever consider are [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] and [name_m]Laban[/name_m]!
When I was pregnant with my oldest daughter, I had a very vivid dream where I was introducing a toddler with curly hair and glasses and I said, this is my daughter, [name_f]Iona[/name_f]. [name_f]Iona[/name_f] is not a name I had ever considered (although after a while, I realized it is the name of the street my high school was one - such a subconcious memory!). Although my husband took this dream to mean we should at least add [name_f]Iona[/name_f] to the list, if not just name the baby that outright, I didn’t really find it a pretty name so we went another way.
I haven’t dreamed names of my own children, but I have dreamed my close friend was pregnant with a baby boy she named [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], the middle name after the baby’s father. This friend happens to be single and has never dated a guy named [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], so I’ve no idea where the name came from.
I know a couple, a pastor and his wife, that have just had a little boy and I dreamt that they named him [name_m]Moses[/name_m]. They didn’t though, he’s called [name_m]Henry[/name_m].
And this wasn’t me but my friend’s sister. When their nephew was due she had a dream that they named him [name_u]Seven[/name_u]. She told her husband this who texted his brother-in-law to tell him. When the baby was born he then texted his sister that they had actually called him [name_u]Seven[/name_u]. She thought she’d had some sort of divine revelation He’s actually called [name_m]Levi[/name_m].
I had a dream a long time ago where I had two toddlers named [name_f]Jade[/name_f] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f]. I really don’t care for [name_f]Jade[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is pretty cute. Probably wouldn’t use it but its definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. I had another dream I had a newborn boy named [name_m]Luke[/name_m]. I think its a fine name but its not something I would choose.
I had a dream that I had a daughter named [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Celia[/name_f], she had blonde hair and blue eyes. That is now how I picture an [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and it is now my favorite [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] combo. I wouldn’t have even thought about the name [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] before the dream and it is now in my top ten.
I had a dream where I had two girls, one named [name_f]Crysathamum[/name_f] [name_f]Hummingbird[/name_f] and the other named [name_f]Moon[/name_f] [name_f]Flower[/name_f], nothing like my usual tastes and I don’t really know where I got them from.
Dreams are weird. On two seperate occasions, I dreamed DH and I gave birth to twin boys. The first time they were called [name_m]Harry[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. Which is strange because they are essentially the same, and I would never do that to my children.
The second time one boy was [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] ( after my brother). Dh wanted to name the other boy [name_m]Brandon[/name_m] [name_u]Jordan[/name_u]. I cried out how horrible a name that was, and we setteled on [name_m]John[/name_m].
This has been a reoccuring theme in my dreams for a long while now. Each child was in a seprate dream. A son named [name_m]Brian[/name_m], an adopted daughter named [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], a daughter named [name_f]Melinda[/name_f] [name_f]Edith[/name_f] after my grandparents, another daughter named [name_f]Geraldine[/name_f] (no surprise there! It’s my favorite name). And my most recent one, a son named [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m].
I honestly don’t know where [name_m]Brian[/name_m] or [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] came from. Aside from dreaming of children, I’ve had dreams where I met a girl named [name_u]Shannon[/name_u] and a man named [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]! [name_m]How[/name_m] bizzare.
I have dreams all the time about names! In one, I had a little girl named [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], which I really like now… And then, I had a girl and my mother forced me to name her [name_f]Wendy[/name_f], which isn’t so bad.
I dreamt a while ago about a baby boy named [name_m]Bruce[/name_m]. He was completely bald and reminded me of one of those bald boy cabbage patch dolls. It was very strange, specifically because [name_m]Bruce[/name_m] is a name that I haven’t really given much thought to.
I’ve dreamed myself with a daughter called [name_f]Molly[/name_f] once, and I had a dream that I was pregnant with a son we were going to call [name_u]Quincy[/name_u]. Neither are bad names, but neither are names I’d ever considered before either; after the dream, I did mention [name_u]Quincy[/name_u] to my boyfriend, and he likes it. It’s not one of our favorites, but it’s a nice name that would have a funny story, I think.
My 3rd baby’s name came to me in a dream while I was pregnant with him: [name_m]Silas[/name_m]. We wanted a nature name, but nothing too obvious, and something to flow with his siblings. [name_m]Silas[/name_m] is perfect!
The only name I ever dreamed was [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], I never (consciously) heard that name before and therefore discovered this beauty in my sleep.
