What names would you love to hear?

There was a recent discussion topic about “name disappointment” - i.e. when a friend has a baby and names it [name]Aidan[/name] or [name]Emily[/name] or something equally uninspired and you’re left feeling dejected because you’re a berry and you’d love to hear a name that’s a little more exciting. I was wondering what names people would love to hear their friends use. Obviously, we don’t want others stealing our favourite baby names (on one hand, I’d love to hear of baby [name]Magnolia[/name], but on the other hand, that’s totally my favourite name right now so, if you’re my cousin, please don’t), but can you think of a name that maybe you wouldn’t personally use, but you’d love to hear someone give their child? A name that would make you think, “Wow. That’s awesome. My opinion of you has totally gone up, like, a notch.”

I would love to hear names like [name]Cordelia[/name], [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Atticus[/name], [name]Darwin[/name], [name]Alice[/name], [name]Freya[/name] and [name]Gwendolen[/name]. They are all on my list, but they are so uncommon, especially where I live, that I would love to see them get used more. [name]Even[/name] my son’s name, [name]Luther[/name], is so uncommon, that I would love to see somebody else use it. [name]Even[/name] is someone “stole” the name, I would be ok with it. I don’t want it to ever become popular though.

I’d love to hear more names in the 200-400 rank range (or even lower).

I was excited to hear [name]Lila[/name] recently. Also [name]Susanna[/name], [name]Roland[/name] and [name]Betty[/name] (yes! [name]Betty[/name]!) made me sort of sit up and think, “Okay, you have my attention.”

Me and my best friend actually plan on switching it up and using each other’s mns hers will be [name]Hadley[/name] [name]Scott[/name] for a girl or boy my mn is [name]Hadley[/name] and my boy will be [name]Thomas[/name] Powe, Powe after her. [name]Both[/name] of our names have significance in out families but neither of us particularly care for them, we are just glad the other loves the name.
Some others: [name]Declan[/name], [name]Reece[/name], [name]Nina[/name] pronounced nee-na, [name]Livvy[/name].

I’d love to meet an [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Agatha[/name], [name]Remus[/name], [name]Magnus[/name], [name]Luna[/name] or [name]Casper[/name]. Never met anyone with any of these names and I love them.

I would love to see more underused names used for boys, the name pool is so small and I would love for people in my community to be a bit more daring… For example: [name]Everett[/name], [name]Leander[/name], [name]Walter[/name]…I would love for someone to use [name]Walter[/name], at least once. Everyone seems to tease me when I mention it, lol. ^^

[name]Olivia[/name], [name]Walter[/name] is such an old name! Plus he will be called [name]Wally[/name]-how could anyone like it?

Well wasn’t [name]Henry[/name] an old-man name once?

I met a baby [name]Coco[/name] and surprised myself by absolutely loving it. Oh, and I was over the moon when my friend and her spouses named their daughter [name]Cordelia[/name]!

Was this a typo? Or does your friend have more than one spouse?

I wish someone I know would name their son [name]Linus[/name], [name]Bram[/name], or [name]Booker[/name].

[name]Thea[/name], [name]Amabel[/name], or [name]Daisy[/name] would delight me on a girl.

Yes! [name]Booker[/name]! [name]Love[/name] this name!

She’s in a polyamorous group marriage with three other couples. They live together and co-parent.

I would love to see a girl named [name]Sunday[/name] or [name]Cotton[/name] and a boy named [name]Frank[/name] or [name]Mordecai[/name].

I would love to hear [name]Marigold[/name], [name]Philippa[/name], and [name]Roxanne[/name]
