What names you love, but are too unusual for you to actually use?

I would use these as middle names, but they would be way too unusual to use as first names:

[name_f]Theophania[/name_f]
Scholastica
[name_f]Artemisia[/name_f]
[name_f]Salomea[/name_f]
Verdandi
[name_f]Cassiopeia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ursula[/name_f]
[name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]
[name_f]Euphemia[/name_f]

Aquilinia and [name_f]Griselda[/name_f]

My grandma was a teacher (@mid 1900s) and taught a little girl named Vanilla. I’ve always loved the sound of vanilla and manilla.

[name_f]Amoret[/name_f] has been a long love of mine (a character in [name_u]Spencer[/name_u]'s epic poem The Faerie Queene). Tbh, I might actually consider it though- it’s not outside the realm of possibility.

Florimell is also a name from The Faerie Queene I’ve liked but is way too extra for me to ever use. I would like the name Britomart as well, but I’m not a fan of [name_f]Brittany[/name_f] and it does remind me of that.

I also love the name [name_f]Iphigenia[/name_f] (if-uh-jen-AY-uh) from Greek myth. The nickname “If” always seemed so unusual and cute and spunky somehow- and the word “if” is just full of promise! But probably not useable. Sigh!

Finally, Esmeree (the name of an obscure queen in Arthurian legend) is a great love of mine and I WOULD probably use it except for Twilight- it would probably remind people of “[name_f]Renesmee[/name_f].”

Edelweiss! especially with the nickname [name_f]Edie[/name_f]. I just think it sounds so sweet, but don’t think i’d ever be brave enough to actually use it. Maybe as a middle though

[name_f]Mercy[/name_f] is one thats probably not too unusual but I get up on the virtue name aspect

Lastly [name_f]Eira[/name_f], it was one of those love at first sight names but I know that it would constantly be mispronounced and i’m not even sure which pronunciation I prefer

I love [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], [name_f]Morgana[/name_f], [name_f]Medea[/name_f], [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. I would use all of them except for [name_f]Medea[/name_f] in the middle spot but it might be a bit much for a little one to handle otherwise.

I also really am starting to like [name_f]Sunday[/name_f], [name_f]Nova[/name_f], [name_f]Isolda[/name_f], [name_f]Maeva[/name_f], [name_f]Octavia[/name_f], and [name_f]Thora[/name_f] which I think are more wearable, just a bit out there within my family, which wouldn’t necessarily deter me but next to my kids’ names might be a bit much also.

I think with so many cultures and different naming styles it would take a very popular negative literary reference, something overtly religious, or mythologically/historically overwhelming for me to not use a particular name. I think you can get away with a lot more nowadays which is so wonderful in the world of Apples and Norths and Freyas. That makes me so happy!

[name_f]Calliope[/name_f] and [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]. So pretty but I can already hear the “[name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce that” and other annoying comments. I also have been into names like [name_f]Sunday[/name_f], [name_u]Winter[/name_u], and [name_f]April[/name_f], but I don’t know how useable they are.

For a boy [name_u]Nico[/name_u], I would use it but hubby doesn’t like it.
