I’m trying to find a couple more options that both my husband and I can agree on. He is quick to shoot down a name, but really hasn’t had any to contribute (except [name]Arwen[/name], which I’m not feeling).
I think I like fairly familiar feminine names, but I would like them to be out of the Top 50. Also, the baby will probably have a hyphenated last name, so I would like the first name to be of a shorter to medium length.
[name]Isla[/name] - This is probably the front-runner. [name]Love[/name] it, husband likes it, but it is also the choice of another pregnant couple we know who are not close friends, but we see them regularly. It wouldn’t be a big deal if we both had little Islas, but I still want to look at other options.
[name]Aria[/name] - Husband likes it, I thought I really liked it, but now I’m unsure. Does it sound a little too trendy?
[name]Fiona[/name] - I mentioned it the other day and, to my surprise, my husband likes it! Very pretty but I’m not sure if I can get the image of [name]Princess[/name] [name]Fiona[/name] from “Shrek” out of my mind.
[name]Rose[/name] - I know it is being overdone as a middle name (it is my middle name too!), but I think it can be lovely as a first. Husband has been noncommittal.
[name]Ivy[/name] - This is probably my favorite, and husband has said no multiple times. I’m going to keep trying.
[name]Clara[/name] - Another one of my favs that my husband keeps saying no to.
[name]Eve[/name] - Sometimes I wonder if this is substantial enough?
[name]Celia[/name] - [name]Haven[/name]'t brought this one up yet, but I really like it.
Is there anything else that I’m missing that I can add to the list? I would appreciate all of your suggestions!
My favortie from your list is [name]Fiona[/name], though I really like all of them with the exception of [name]Aria[/name]. It isn’t a bad name, just doesn’t do anything for me.
I really like the name [name]Rose[/name], and though it may be a common mn, it’s fresher as a first… Plus it has a family connection for you.
[name]Eve[/name] is pretty too… I think it is substantial enough on its own.
Those two are my favourites from your list.
[name]Will[/name] you be giving your daughter a mn too?
A few more short names:
[name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Joy[/name]
[name]Saige[/name]
[name]Seren[/name]
[name]May[/name] / [name]June[/name]
Enjoy the name hunt!
Yeah, I think [name]Aria[/name] is out. I started out liking it but its luster wore off way too quickly for me that I should stop considering it.
Middle name is still undecided, but I have been loving both [name]Belle[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] for a middle.
The names [name]Ava[/name], [name]Eva[/name], [name]Mia[/name], [name]Willa[/name], [name]Nora[/name], [name]Sienna[/name], [name]Viola[/name], [name]Lily[/name], [name]Luna[/name], [name]Iris[/name], and [name]Tessa[/name] have all been discussed and off the list because of popularity, husband doesn’t like, or are names of pets and/or nieces.
I do also like [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Cora[/name], [name]Lia[/name], and [name]Elise[/name] – I’ll add those to the list and see what my husband says.
You’ve got some great ideas going…too bad your husband doesn’t like [name]Clara[/name]! [name]Fiona[/name] and [name]Rose[/name] are my other favorites from your list. I know a couple Fionas in real life (one is a toddler and the other is in her 20s), and the Shrek association fades very quickly!
I’m loving all the names you added to your list, too, especially [name]Cora[/name]. Let us know what your husband says!
I also agree that the Shrek association fades quickly when you know a [name]Fiona[/name] in real life. I know a [name]Fiona[/name], and how now the Shrek association has been replaced with something far worse
[name]Isla[/name] and [name]Aria[/name] are lovely, but I have reservations about them, as they do feel trendy. [name]Fiona[/name] is pretty. It also seems to be gaining popularity though. The reference to [name]Princess[/name] [name]Fiona[/name] from Shrek isn’t that bad, really.
[name]Rose[/name] - I love common middle names used as firsts! If hubby doesn’t like [name]Rose[/name], are there any [name]Rose[/name] names that he might like? [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Rosemary[/name], [name]Rosalind[/name]? I think [name]Rose[/name] names are lovely.
[name]Ivy[/name] - this is probably my least favorite. Maybe I can’t past the poison ivy thing.
[name]Clara[/name] - also not a fan. [name]Claire[/name] is nice, but [name]Clara[/name] sounds like a cow name.
[name]Eve[/name] - I love it! I adore simple, short and sweet names!
[name]Celia[/name] - so pretty! I like [name]Cecelia[/name] too, but just [name]Celia[/name] is different and cute!
Suggestions:
[name]Freya[/name]
[name]Thea[/name]
[name]Luna[/name]
[name]Lila[/name]
[name]Nola[/name]
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Irene[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Belle[/name]
Oh, I didn’t see the names you added!
[name]Cora[/name] is one of my faves!
A few more suggestions: [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Rue[/name], [name]Estelle[/name], [name]Etta[/name]
I’d like to suggest [name]Ione[/name]. (pronounced ee-OH-nee)
I’d kind of similar to [name]Fiona[/name] and [name]Isla[/name].
I think it’s a lovely name and nature-inspired.
Not sure I can add anything new to what’s already been suggested. I do want to say YES to [name]Eve[/name] being substantial enough. It packs a lot of punch, imo. If it helps, [name]Eva[/name] is great too, and gives you an extra syllable. I am picky about names being substantial enough, and [name]Eve[/name] fully qualifies to me. It is a sophisticated and stunning name!
Secondly, I love [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name] on your list. [name]Clara[/name] is so classy and pretty! [name]Ivy[/name] is a fabulous blend of spunk and vintage charm with an upbeat, modern feel. Good luck finding agreement with your husband!
