What rising stars have got you worried?

Mine is [name]Vivienne[/name]. Loved it long before the celebs took it, but people seem to be more and more into it (though I’ve yet to meet one under 30 years old). It’s got me worried that it’ll be overused by the time my kids are 3!

[name]Vivienne[/name] was actually scratched off the list recently due to that exact reason. [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Madeleine[/name] as well.

[name]Freya[/name] and [name]Oskar[/name]. My favourites for 21 yrs. Now worryingly trendy. Sigh.

I’m worried [name]Eloise[/name] is gonna be the next boring [name]Ella[/name]. It is certainly gearing up for that, it’s gone from 917 to 449 in a matter of years, which means it is going to be trendy and popular when I am old enough to have children, which is in roughly ten years. I’ve always wanted to name my daughter [name]Eloise[/name], since second grade, so no matter what, I will have an [name]Eloise[/name]. I’m prepared with an obscure nickname I don’t think will rise too much, [name]Lula[/name].

Worried about [name]Penelope[/name]. But I’ve also decided I probably love it enough that I don’t care.

Also [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Hazel[/name], and [name]Asher[/name].

The [name]Adeline[/name]/[name]Adelaide[/name]/[name]Ada[/name] names. I’m seeing more and more little Addies these days.

[name]Persephone[/name], most definitely.

I am very curious as to what [name]Ada[/name] and [name]Adelaide[/name] will do, they don’t seem to have that broad appeal that [name]Adeline[/name] does, but with [name]Ada[/name] being so similar to [name]Ava[/name], it really does have the potential to skyrocket.

[name]Hazel[/name] is scaring me a little bit. It’s always been one of my favorite names, but it clashes horribly with our last name, so we weren’t able to use it. I would hate to see [name]Hazel[/name] become overused and spoiled. And can you imagine the creative spellings? Ick.

I am worried about [name]Hazel[/name] and [name]Asher[/name] the most. Maybe [name]Finn[/name], too. [name]Hazel[/name] has been one of my favorite names since I was a teenager, and I would hate to see it overused and trendy.

[name]Leo[/name]. Sigh. It’s a family name that I really love, and the broadening popularity really saddens me. Considering [name]Leopold[/name] nn [name]Leo[/name] as an alternative. Also, [name]Josephine[/name]. I feel like its one of the “safer” vintage gem choices, and I’m starting to see it everywhere.

I’m a bit concerned about [name]Dahlia[/name] and [name]Gemma[/name]. And I wish [name]Julian[/name] weren’t so popular–it isn’t where I live.

Mine was [name]Aurora[/name] so I started to look for an alternative and feel in love with [name]Aurelia[/name] instead.

Names I love that have become quite popular, much to my disappointment:

[name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Sophia[/name]

[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Henry[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Jasper[/name]
[name]William[/name]

[name]Augustus[/name] is also slowly rising, sadly.

[name]Asher[/name]. I’ve loved it for years but it seems to be getting really popular…although I have yet to meet a little [name]Asher[/name], so that makes me feel a little better.

When I was 15 I desperately wanted to name my child [name]Isabelle[/name]. [name]Isabelle[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] I thought was so romantic and beautiful. 12 years on and I’ve made peace with saying goodbye to [name]Isabelle[/name]. I’m afraid my current favourites will meet the same fate: [name]Matilda[/name], [name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Imogen[/name].

[name]Matilda[/name] has been no 18/19 for a couple of years in Aus. I’m getting prepared to use it anyway :o It’s the ONLY girls name DH and I can agree on. And I know it’s because it’s getting popular - he only likes names that are top 100.

Here are the ones that have gotten popular enough that I’m already put off of using them as first names, mostly: [name]Roman[/name], [name]Jude[/name], [name]Penelope[/name] (though I think it’s a lock for a middle name, and I am definitely happy with that), [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Nadia[/name], & [name]Fiona[/name] (the former three moreso than the latter). If I loved them enough and could get SO approval, I’d probably use them anyway, but…I don’t really love any of them (with the possible exception of [name]Penelope[/name], which actually does seem to have SO approval) enough to do that.

Here’s the one I’m worried about: [name]Athena[/name]

Part of me feels like its popularity has got to be close to maxing out, if it hasn’t already, but…I don’t know. I’m watching [name]Arthur[/name] pretty closely, too, but I’m not actively worried about it yet.

[name]August[/name] & [name]Matilda[/name]. I could have 10 kids all named [name]August[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name] and be just happy. I love the name [name]Beatrice[/name] and have for years … but there is some new young adult lit turned movie coming out with protagonist name [name]Beatrice[/name]. Husband loves [name]Madeleine[/name] and [name]Eloise[/name] but those are far too trendy already. I’ll have to stick with an obscure Hebrew name when it comes time to name a child if I want to be fully unique.

I’ve always wanted to name a future daughter [name]Ruby[/name] or use it as a mn…but it’s become far too popular in Australia.

I loved both [name]Chloe[/name] and [name]Zoe[/name] when I was younger and they were rarely used, and they’re already spoiled for me due to popularity. I currently love [name]Genevieve[/name], and I hope it doesn’t climb out of the 200s anytime soon.
