[name_m]How[/name_m] many top names should you create a list for? I feel like 5 is appropriate, but should you have any more on the list?

I am not pregnant or TTC, but am wanting to build a list for a future child. I would like the names to match as siblings.

Five seems good to me. I think the more names that you have that you love the better! I have a hard time finding more than a few names that I really love enough to use.

Here are my thoughts on your list:

Boys-

[name_m]Ralph[/name_m]-This is fun. It’s not my personal favorite, but it’s unique & has a kind vibe to it.

[name_m]Conrad[/name_m]-I’m not a huge fan of this. It just sounds kind of harsh to me.

[name_u]August[/name_u]-I love this one. Perfect combination of gentle ruggedness & artsy-ness.

[name_m]Samson[/name_m]-This is fine. I prefer [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], but this more unique. [name_u]Sam[/name_u] is lovable.

[name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m]-I don’t mind it, but it’s not my favorite. Cool nn options though. [name_m]Tad[/name_m] & [name_m]Thad[/name_m] are okay, but I love [name_m]Thatch[/name_m], Thax & [name_u]Teddy[/name_u].

[name_m]Leander[/name_m]-I’m lukewarm on this one. It’s different, but not my cup of tea.

[name_m]Richard[/name_m] nn [name_u]Ricky[/name_u]-I don’t love it, but would be kind of excited to meet a little [name_u]Ricky[/name_u] in 2020. Ready for comeback, perhaps.

Girls-

[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]-Sooo sweet. It’s just the right combination of a dusty vintage name with a fresh spunky feel. I love the nns [name_f]Bea[/name_f], [name_f]Bess[/name_f] & [name_f]Bette[/name_f] too.

[name_f]Martha[/name_f] nn [name_u]Mattie[/name_u]-[name_m]Even[/name_m] though I don’t love either of these names, I love the idea of it anyway. I wouldn’t be at all disappointed to meet a little [name_f]Martha[/name_f] nn [name_u]Mattie[/name_u]. It’s fun & refreshing.

[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] prn Mad-lyn ([name_m]French[/name_m] way)-I jut learned today that I’ve been saying this wrong. I thought that [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] was just like [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] (‘mad-uh-line’). I much prefer that pronunciation. It sounds sweeter.

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]-Gorgeous! Fresh, sleek & sophisticated, but I can also picture on a little girl picking daisies in a prairie.

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]-I love it! It’s one of the two names that I personally love enough to use. Perfect balance of strong & feminine.

[name_u]June[/name_u]-Very sweet. The nn [name_f]Junie[/name_f] is super cute, & [name_u]June[/name_u] is sleek yet kind.

[name_f]Olive[/name_f]-I absolutely love it. Climbing to the top of my current list as of late.

[name_u]Meredith[/name_u]-I’m not a fan of this one. Not sure why, but it always sounded a little snobby to me.

Thanks for the suggestion of 5! I will probably create 5 and keep the other names I love on a runner-up list.

I used to keep a top five for each gender, but then realised I only really had 3 (at the time, now 2) “long-standing” (again, at the time lol) favourites. The others were just crushes. Once those dropped off, I tried to replace them but I just couldn’t. So I have a top 2 for each. I don’t know what I’ll do if I have 3 of either gender :flushed::flushed:
