What’s your thoughts on the name Booth

I don’t think this generation will know what a phone both is so it shouldn’t be too bad

This generation definitely knows what a phone booth is.

Im referring to the ones born from roughly 2010 onward not the ones born in the 90s and early 2000s (I was born in 1998)

I think all gens, including the new ones, will know what a phone booths are. Similar in the way film cameras, Polaroids, “old movies”, drive in diners and movies, etc. Everything comes back, even if it’s just for an aesthetic insta pic and not function.

Now my first thought is [name_u]John[/name_u] [name_m]Wilkes[/name_m] [name_m]Booth[/name_m]. [name_m]Booth[/name_m] also is another word for tent so there’s booths at fairs, farmers markets, charity functions, etc.

I’m a few years after you, my first though was seating booths, like in restaurants and [name_u]John[/name_u] [name_m]Wilkes[/name_m] [name_m]Booth[/name_m]. It has a surnamey vibe to it that could appeal to some but for me personally it’s too wordy, [name_m]Boone[/name_m] could be a nice alternative though

As a name, my first association is [name_u]John[/name_u] [name_m]Wilkes[/name_m]. [name_f]Pretty[/name_f] rough comp! As a word, I think of booths for sitting at. As in, when you arrive at a restaurant and a host asks, “Would you like a table or a booth?” I loved the booth seating as a kid.

Kids very much know what phone booths are  And regardless, booth is used as a word in other contexts. It just feels really random to me as a name. I’d prefer [name_m]Boone[/name_m] or something of the sort.

I don’t think phone booths are coming back

The association is their but it’s not as strong as would say a name like Dahmer or Hitler given that it happened basically almost 2 centuries ago plus it’s not just associated with him alone their are phone booths and booth seats

[name_m]Plenty[/name_m] of places still have phone booths which children growing up see on a day to day basis. And phone booths play prominent parts in many movies which have been popular for decades and probably will continue to be. Anyway, there’s also seating booths.

Hotels are bringing them back. Still being used in public on sidewalks and in public transportation stations. Many cities require a certain amount to be functioning for emergency purposes. Nostalgia. Photo ops for tourists like those angel wings on walls. Photo ops in magazines are still a thing. Also, Dr. Who isn’t leaving anytime soon.

I think some people are being too harsh on you because I know for a fact a lot of young kids do not know what phone booths are. I even just saw a TikTok recently of a girl saying her little brother said something like “there should be phones in public you can use for if your cellphone dies” and she had to explain to him what a phone booth was.
Regardless, phone booth isn’t the only context where the word is used. Think about seat booths, booths at fairs and events, etc.
I think it has a nice sound for a name but it’s kind of a weird word to have as a name. The word booth itself isn’t necessarily negative but it’s not really positive either. And then there’s the [name_u]John[/name_u] [name_m]Wilkes[/name_m] [name_m]Booth[/name_m] association which is clearly negative.
I would opt for something like [name_m]Boone[/name_m], [name_u]Rooney[/name_u], or even [name_m]Zeus[/name_m].

Aside from phone booths, booths are in restaurants too. The newer generations will know the word in one way or another. However, I don’t see the noun “booth” as negative.

I will say though, my first thought was [name_u]John[/name_u] [name_m]Wilkes[/name_m] [name_m]Booth[/name_m]. If you aren’t American, then the association isn’t so big of a deal. However, that was a big part of American history, so children will certainly learn about him. It could be an issue or maybe not. It isn’t something I would choose, personally.

Phone booth actually never dawned that on me. I was thinking this was more along the lines of [name_u]John[/name_u] [name_m]Wilkes[/name_m] [name_m]Booth[/name_m] which I Really wouldn’t want as a namesake.

Thats a shop brand name in the uk lol

If that was the case then they wouldn’t had named the character on bones “Booth”

I know what a phone booth is. Im 15 btw. Many people ro
