What spelling do you like, and middle same suggestions?

We are pretty sure we’re going to name our little girl Avyn. What spelling do you prefer?? Aven or Avyn? Pronounced like [name]Haven[/name], but without the H.

Opinions on the name are welcome also…

And, if you have any middle name suggestions i’d love to hear them also.

Thanks!!

I prefer the Aven spelling for sure. Avyn looks odd with the trendy “y”. The name isn’t my style. It just seems more like two popular sounds smooshed together more than an actual name (it’s a plant name as well as a place name). It also reminds me of [name]Avon[/name] the cosmetics company. Since the name is short with only four letters, I think a longer mn looks best.

Aven [name]Josephine[/name]
Aven [name]Mirabel[/name]
Aven [name]Louisa[/name]
Aven [name]Noelle[/name]
Aven [name]Claire[/name]
Aven [name]Sophie[/name]
Aven [name]Lucille[/name]
Aven [name]Elisabeth[/name]
Aven [name]Meredith[/name]
Aven [name]Lorelei[/name]
Aven [name]Caroline[/name]
Aven [name]Matilda[/name]
Aven [name]Francesca[/name]
Aven [name]Penelope[/name]
Aven [name]Georgina[/name]
Aven [name]Rosalie[/name]
Aven [name]Charlotte[/name]
Aven [name]Felicity[/name]

Aven for sure. I hate adding random Y’s to things. It makes the name look made up or misspelled.

Aven is a nicer spelling. Aven reminds me of Avian (as in birds) and doesn’t sound like a complete name imo. I prefer [name]Haven[/name], Maven, [name]Avalon[/name], [name]Ava[/name]…

I prefer Aven. Might sound nice with a one-syllable, more classic middle name, such as…
Aven [name]Grace[/name]
Aven [name]Jane[/name]

I would do Aven. Y ending names tend to look to trendy or made up

I really love Aven, though really dislike the Avyn spelling. Aven [name]Emilia[/name] was the first combo to come to mind. Other ideas (sorry about repeats):

Aven [name]Louisa[/name]
Aven [name]Beatrix[/name]
Aven [name]Charlotte[/name]
Aven [name]Sapphire[/name]
Aven [name]Juliet[/name]
Aven [name]Ruby[/name]
Aven [name]Pearl[/name]
Aven [name]Georgia[/name]
Aven [name]Willow[/name]
Aven [name]Zara[/name]
Aven [name]Francesca[/name]
Aven [name]Lucy[/name]

Aven is way better, y is to trendy.

Aven [name]Michelle[/name]
Aven [name]Isabel[/name]
Aven [name]Isabella[/name]
Aven [name]Juliet[/name]
Aven [name]Rose[/name]
Aven [name]Lucia[/name]

I agree with everything @[name]Mischa[/name] said.

I’d suggest
Aven [name]Ophelia[/name]
Aven [name]Victoria[/name]
Aven [name]Juliet[/name]
Aven [name]Eleanor[/name]

I also like the Aven spelling, it seems more straight-forward to me. When I read your first sentence I pronounced Avyn like ([name]Ah[/name]-ven) until I got to the part about rhyming with “haven.” So I would probably assume that other people throughout her life might mispronounce it as well and it would probably become an issue for her to have to always correct people on the spelling. Good luck! =]

Aven for sure!

And I really liked the Aven [name]Felicity[/name] suggestion from above. Super pretty!

Aven for sure

I thought of [name]Avon[/name] at first! Nms, but I like the sound! I would spell it Aven.

@mommy29: are you sure you don’t care for [name]Haven[/name] itself? It has a beautiful meaning (a place of rest and refuge), whereas Aven is simply pretty sounds, nothing more.

It almost seems like you said “like [name]Ava[/name], but different,” and that perhaps you borrowed from the massive -en / -an name trend (like the [name]Jayden[/name], [name]Aiden[/name], [name]Hayden[/name], etc names).

There’s also:

[name]Viva[/name] (lively, sparkling)
[name]Vita[/name] (life)
[name]Ada[/name] (short form of [name]Adelaide[/name], meaning ‘noble and kind’)
[name]Avis[/name] (bird)
[name]Aveline[/name] (hazel)
[name]Eva[/name]
Maven
[name]Eavan[/name] (beautiful Irish name, belonging to Irish royalty, meaning ‘beautiful sheen’)
[name]Iva[/name] (“God is gracious”)
[name]Ziva[/name] (“radiance, brilliance”)
