What spelling should I use?

I agree with many that have said that due to [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] being an unusual (uncommon/non-traditional) name in itself, that an alternate spelling isn’t at all necessary. [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f], I think, is your best bet. Most would intuitively spell [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] this way, so she’d grow up with endless issues with spelling everywhere she goes, which would be frustrating as she grows on documents and what not (for example, though I spelled my own name out three times for me bank card, when it came in the mail it was spelled wrong…yeah, not fun at all dealing with that).

Though I’m not overly keen on [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] myself, I do like the sound/image of both [name_u]Rain[/name_u] and [name_u]Bo[/name_u] and the optimism that comes with rainbow as a word of course - nice nickname options right there. [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is lovely, and I really don’t see that the (not exactly well-known) [name_f]Holly[/name_f] [name_u]Madison[/name_u] association is a bad/negative one at all.

I agree with the majority- [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] is the best spelling.
Choosing an unusual word name sets a girl apart anyway. A rainbow is a beautiful thing. By spelling it in an alternative fashion you risk people focusing on the spelling rather than the beauty behind the actual word.

I’m not the OP, but I love that, so thank you! I’ll put it on my list as a hyphenated name.

You need to remember that children do grow up are middle aged at some point. [name_f]Imagine[/name_f] having to introduce yourself as an adult and telling them your name, I’m sure you would get a couple of sniggers from quite a lot of people.
If you are certain about [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] is would use the proper spelling. [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is pretty much unusable because it’s used my someone famous, it’s like naming your child [name_u]Pax[/name_u] Thien.

I agree with all previous posters who suggested the spelling [name_f]RAINBOW[/name_f]. I tend to think of [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_u]Bright[/name_u] off the bat and would therefore probably avoid a second word name. I like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]/[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] but I might choose something that allows for a more main stream mn or nn. [name_m]Just[/name_m] in case your future child decides that’s what they want or who they are. I do usually advocate in this manor when choosing a really out there or unique fn.

Combo’s I like: (nn options are just suggests what I like)
[name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] nn options [name_f]Raina[/name_f] or [name_f]Emma[/name_f] or [name_f]Mia[/name_f]
[name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] nn options [name_u]Bo[/name_u] or [name_u]Ollie[/name_u]
[name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] nn options [name_u]Bell[/name_u]

I have another option: Raynbeaux, the -eaux ending makes it [name_m]French[/name_m]. Or [name_f]Reignbo[/name_f] to give it a country western feel?

Or Raiynbeau could work

[name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Nephele[/name_f] (meaning [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_u]Cloud[/name_u] which is kinda interesting)

[name_u]Love[/name_u] this name, and Crushing on [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u].

I’m sorry, but why are people coming up with strange spellings of this word for a baby? I’m not a fan of [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f], if the OP wants to use it, she should use the actual spelling of the word (which I think she’s planning to do, hopefully). Any variation just looks illiterate.

Erm, I would strongly advise against [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] with another word name/colour name. I’m not one to normally get like this, because I’m told the same thing all the time for liking diminutive names, but, you may want to give a more, classic name in the middle spot, because honestly, would you want to be named [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] right now? There’s a reason why, when I choose a cutesy name on my list, it’s paired with a strong, feminine without being too cute, middle name. If, when I have children, say, my daughter doesn’t wish to go by [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] as an adult, she could use her middle name, [name_f]Katharine[/name_f] instead.

[name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] sort of cancels that out. If you don’t want to be named [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] as an adult, are you really going to want to have [name_u]Blue[/name_u] as your name as well?

[name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Azure[/name_f] would even be better.

I agree with this! Raynebeaux – what the?!

I used to watch The Girls Next Door show that Holly Madison was on, so as soon as I saw the name [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f], I immediately thought of her (I also thought of My Little Ponies and [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] Brite). Once the OP posted about [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], I knew it had to come from Holly Madison. Whether it did or not, [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] and especially [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] are heavily associated with Holly Madison to me. She did make headlines for choosing this name.

If you have to use the name [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f]… then spell it [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] to avoid making it any more of a mess. The others are so cringe-worthy. But like another poster mentioned, this child will grow up and will someday have to work and introduce themselves. Imagine having to put [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] on your job applications, college applications, resumes, business cards, school degrees, or anything else.

[name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] is a perfect name…for a stuffed animal. This is a baby. Please don’t pair two words and call it a name.

[name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]?

A bit better, but again, word names.

try;

[name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Catriona[/name_f]/[name_f]Katrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_u]Andrea[/name_u]
[name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Alexina[/name_f]

I think I now know what we are going to name her!

No getting me away from it, her name will be [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]!

congrats, but if you knew that, why ask about it earlier?

I just decided?! I mean this baby is due in a week and a half!

Funny, you never mentioned that before…

@dognames, you posted this on your profile page on [name_f]May[/name_f] 29th:

“I Know this will make some people mad, but I’m only here to look for puppy names for my purebred Siberian Husky! Since I am AKC regristating she needs both a first and middle name. Last name is Schuttloffel ( Shut-laof- feol)”.

I’m kind of relieved because that means there will not be a little girl named Raynebeaux. [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], though, is really nice for a husky pup, but I think I prefer Kondiak and Sitka, as suggested in your other thread. Kondlike could be a nice middle name for the pup, and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] would be cool as it makes me think of the northern lights! =)

hmm, yet pp just told us you’re only here for a dog name?
