what to do with Ramona

I really, really want to love [name_f]Ramona[/name_f], but there are two things I can’t get past: the “moan” in the second syllable, and that it reminds me, inevitably, of [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_m]Quimby[/name_m].
Can you talk me into keeping [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] on my list?
Thanks,
LL

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you need to keep [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] on your list? Maybe change the middle like Ramilya?

I love the nickname [name_u]Romy[/name_u].

I think [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is adorable! I actually love the [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_m]Quimby[/name_m] association.

To be honest, I don’t really like [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] either :frowning: [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Romana[/name_f]? It is similar but doesn’t have the “moan” sound that you don’t like.

Of you don’t like it, then simply remove it from you list. You have so many names on it, why keep one you’re not that into?

I’d just dump it. And reread a [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_m]Quimby[/name_m] book whenever you feel nostalgic for it.

[name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]!!!

You should need NO convincing!! The nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u] and the adorable spunky [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_m]Quimby[/name_m]!!! Its one of my top contenders is I can ever get pregnant again!!!

I second little_billy and say that you should consider [name_f]Romana[/name_f]. It’s beautiful, does not have the ‘moan’ sound, won’t receive [name_f]Mona[/name_f] [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] jokes, and even has more immediately recognizable access to the nickname [name_u]Romy[/name_u] : ) [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is pretty too, but does it have that many points going for it? I say not : )

I like Romily as a [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] alternative

I think the [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_m]Quimby[/name_m] association is what makes the name so cute!

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] are other ways to [name_u]Romy[/name_u], and considerably nicer [name_f]IMO[/name_f] than [name_f]Romana[/name_f] or [name_f]Romilly[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] though - its meaning is admirable, it’s strong sounding, the o gives it some life. I like [name_f]Ione[/name_f] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] too so I guess I enjoy that vowel-y quality. It has a level of quirky clunk to it that makes some people hate it, but I find it charming. It’s unlikely to get popular, but, well, I’m glad.

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband’s grandmother is named [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] and as much as we love his [name_f]Nana[/name_f] neither of us really like this name. It may just be our association that it is an old woman name and the way that his grandfather would call her “[name_f]Mona[/name_f]” all the time. I don’t think that there is anything wrong with this name but be prepared that she may get the nn [name_f]Mona[/name_f] which is only a problem if you don’t like the sound of “moan” in the name. Good luck narrowing down your list!

I love [name_f]Ramona[/name_f], I didn’t even make the connection with the ‘moaner’ sound at the end… I don’t see it as a big deal. It’s easy to wear throughout life from a toddler “[name_u]Romy[/name_u]” to an adult “[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]”.

If it helps, I’m a huge [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] lover, which could be a great alternative for you!

There is a [name_m]Bob[/name_m] [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] song called [name_f]Ramona[/name_f], which is my first association. As far as [name_m]Bob[/name_m] [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] songs go, my favorite is [name_f]Johanna[/name_f]. [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] feels like a very smart, classy choice for a baby name though.

I love [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] and [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_m]Quimby[/name_m]. I think the reason too keep [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is because of her quirkiness. Perhaps how she sounds in a set will help persuade you.

One of my best friends (age 15) is named [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]. We call her [name_f]Mona[/name_f], [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m], and plain old [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]. I think it fits her very well, although its not my favorite.
