What to name another girl - Baby #4

With 3 daughters already, we are assuming this baby is a girl until proven otherwise. While it is still early we typically have our babies named by the gender reveal ultrasound which is scheduled for 6 weeks from today. We had a top 5 list but none of those have really made any progress and some of them don’t really seem to fit anymore. Now that we have seen the baby via sonogram and since the baby is now big enough to feel movements we are starting to get an idea of its personality, which is not what we had previously imagined. This is one chill baby. We’re guessing like Daddy’s easygoing, laidback type of personality. So, we are re-assessing.

A little background. We have 3 dds [name_f]Lilla[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], and [name_f]Tess[/name_f]. [name_f]Lilla[/name_f] (short i like [name_f]Willa[/name_f] not pronounced like [name_f]Lila[/name_f]/[name_f]Lyla[/name_f]/[name_f]Lilah[/name_f]) and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] are in grade school and [name_f]Tess[/name_f] just turned 2 this past week. So while we will have 4 children they will be separated into 2 sets of 2 because of their age gap for school and activities/events.

On paper we would like to use another double letter name as it is a fun pattern and this is our last child so we don’t want them to feel left out. To further complicate matters we also have 3 nieces that also have double letter names one ending in belle another in anna, as well as an [name_f]Emma[/name_f] (so no [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]).

Because of this we mainly focused our attention on double t names but they seem to sway from extremely popular ([name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]) to extremely dated ([name_f]Annette[/name_f] and [name_f]Lynette[/name_f]) or extremely french ([name_f]Alouette[/name_f] and [name_f]Cosette[/name_f]) to extremely country ([name_f]Coretta[/name_f] or [name_f]Marietta[/name_f]).

We are considering:
[name_f]Colette[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f], [name_f]Josette[/name_f], [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
*I still like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] but it’s so popular and it leaves [name_f]Lilla[/name_f] by her lonesome in being the only uncommon name, because while [name_f]Tess[/name_f] has a very low popularity level it it much more familiar as a nn.
*[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] doesn’t feel like the right name for this baby.
*[name_f]Colette[/name_f] is probably my top pick, DH isn’t a big of a fan. [name_f]Etta[/name_f] could work here but it feels like a stretch.
*[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] is so over the top feminine to me but DH is a fan. I like [name_f]Julietta[/name_f]/[name_f]Giulietta[/name_f] as well but we are 0% Italian so we aren’t comfortable using these names. I feel like [name_u]Jules[/name_u] is a more intuitive nn than [name_f]Etta[/name_f].
*We would prefer a full name for [name_f]Etta[/name_f] but never really seemed to find one.
*Both [name_f]Josette[/name_f] and [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] are newer additions, I feel like they could work really well but I’m not in love with either of them. [name_u]Jojo[/name_u] is cute we neither love nor hate it. DH likes these the least out of all of our choices.

Other double letter names:
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f], [name_f]Joelle[/name_f]
*I’m generally meh but they both work. DH has [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] in 3rd place on his list.

[name_f]Non[/name_f]-double letter names:
[name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
*[name_f]Faye[/name_f] will probably be used as the middle name unless it just has terrible flow (which there are a few of on this list) but we like it enough to keep it on our first name list as well. I’m not loving [name_f]Tess[/name_f] and [name_f]Faye[/name_f] both being one syllables though and no double letter, which are the 2 main deterrents against using it as a first.
*[name_f]Flora[/name_f] is so soft and sweet and it doesn’t pass my would I want to be named this test, but it is our less popular counterpoint to [name_f]Cora[/name_f].
*[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] has been on our list forever. No double letter and we just cannot do [name_f]Rosalee[/name_f], it just takes all of the pretty and [name_m]French[/name_m] out of the name for me. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] is pretty good though. Also not loving [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] as a nn. I remember really wishing I wanted [name_f]Tess[/name_f] to be [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] so we could have a little baby [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] but right this minute it feels a bit blah. I might just be mourning the loss of [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f]/[name_f]Suki[/name_f] from taking all of the [name_f]Susan[/name_f] variants off our list.

Our short list went from a standstill to a longer list that is still at a standstill. I did briefly fall for [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] but I’m not sure how well I like it for this baby… DH was really into [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is probably his all time favorite.

So berries where do we go from here. Are we missing something, have we already found it? What do you love or hate with our girls. Thanks!

I like [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] best from your list. I do think [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] is super feminine, but so is [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f].

Other ideas:

[name_f]Annelise[/name_f]
Arielle
Callista
Camille
[name_f]Clarissa[/name_f]
Corinne
[name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Giselle[/name_f]
[name_f]Lisette[/name_f]
[name_f]Odette[/name_f] (I think this is my favorite)
[name_f]Pippa[/name_f]

No double letter:

Amelie
Bianca
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Juliana[/name_f]
Simone
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]

My favourite for you is [name_f]Colette[/name_f]. Idk, [name_f]Lilla[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Tess[/name_f] and [name_f]Colette[/name_f] just sound like sisters to me.

Some more ideas:
[name_f]Odette[/name_f] - keeps the pattern, not over the top feminine nor too popular.
[name_f]Georgette[/name_f]
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]
[name_f]Carlotta[/name_f] - [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] by another name. Less popular but also lovely.
[name_f]Claudette[/name_f]
[name_f]Mattea[/name_f]
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_u]Hollis[/name_u]/[name_u]Holland[/name_u]? I think it sounds cute in your set. I also like [name_f]Sansa[/name_f] with your girls. [name_f]Minna[/name_f] is a cute name, especially with [name_f]Tess[/name_f]. I’ve always liked Roseminna as one name, with the nn minna. Mielle is a pretty name that means honey in [name_m]French[/name_m] (miel) and the nn [name_f]Mimi[/name_f] is cute with your girls too. If you count double vowels I think you have lots of options - [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] would be sweet with nn [name_f]Laidy[/name_f]…I love that. Good luck!

[name_f]Rosaleen[/name_f], [name_f]Summer[/name_f], [name_f]Adelle[/name_f], [name_f]Camille[/name_f], [name_f]Leanna[/name_f],

What about double ‘e’ names?
[name_f]Kathleen[/name_f], [name_f]Eileen[/name_f], [name_f]Aimee[/name_f]…
I also second [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f] & [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]

Or a name ending in ‘lynn’ have a double N

More double letter names (though they may not be your style)
[name_f]Leanna[/name_f]/[name_f]Leanne[/name_f], [name_f]Donna[/name_f],
[name_f]Elliana[/name_f], [name_f]Janelle[/name_f], Jannessa,
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f], [name_f]Tiana[/name_f]
[name_u]Allison[/name_u], [name_f]Camille[/name_f]/[name_f]Camilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Holly[/name_f], [name_f]Mallory[/name_f],
[name_f]Brielle[/name_f], [name_f]Michelle[/name_f], [name_u]Ellis[/name_u],
[name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f],
[name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Becca[/name_f]/[name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]
[name_f]Terra[/name_f], [name_u]Brooke[/name_u]/[name_f]Brooklynn[/name_f], [name_f]Oona[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] would be a nice fit, but if you don’t like that what about:
Addelaide/Addeline/Addallee nn [name_f]Addie[/name_f]
Penellope
Cecilly
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]/[name_f]Nellie[/name_f]
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f]/[name_u]Mattie[/name_u]
[name_f]Maggie[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]/[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Estella[/name_f]
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f]
[name_f]Effie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellen[/name_f]
[name_f]Nettie[/name_f]
[name_f]Della[/name_f]
[name_f]Lizzie[/name_f]
[name_f]Sallie[/name_f]
[name_f]Mollie[/name_f]
[name_u]Willie[/name_u]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]/t
[name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]/[name_f]Becca[/name_f]
[name_u]Ollie[/name_u]
[name_f]Millie[/name_f]
[name_f]Luella[/name_f]
[name_f]Tillie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Dollie[/name_f]
[name_f]Winnie[/name_f]
Since you seem to like older names, I got most of these from the social security list for the 1880s and 1890s decades. Out of these I like:
Penellope [name_f]Faye[/name_f]
Cecilly [name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]*
I personally think [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] would be a great fit. It’s a less common nn for [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], and I think [name_f]Lilla[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Tess[/name_f], and [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] make an adorable sibset.

Our name styles differ greatly, but here are some double letter names that I think you might have not considered.

[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Brianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Arielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Camille[/name_f]

[name_f]Tess[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Lilla[/name_f], and:

[name_f]Jemma[/name_f] (instead of popular [name_f]Gemma[/name_f])
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] ([name_u]Love[/name_u] this with your girls’ names since it is longer like [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and there are two shorter names so it is fairly balanced)
Other ideas:

[name_f]Aimee[/name_f]
[name_f]Addie[/name_f]
[name_f]Britta[/name_f] / Bretta
[name_f]Brynna[/name_f]
[name_f]Camille[/name_f] (different sound than [name_f]Lilla[/name_f], so I thought you’d consider it even though both names have double Ls)
[name_u]Eliott[/name_u] / [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Jenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Johanna[/name_f]
[name_u]Julianne[/name_u]
[name_f]Janna[/name_f]
[name_f]Kenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Nicolette[/name_f]
Ariette (are-ree-yet)
[name_f]Linnea[/name_f]
[name_f]Philippa[/name_f]
[name_f]Renee[/name_f]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f]
[name_f]Bree[/name_f]
[name_f]Cierra[/name_f]
Rhetta
[name_f]Novalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Ruthie[/name_f]
[name_f]Maura[/name_f]
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]
[name_f]Therese[/name_f]

@sarah1800 - [name_f]Camille[/name_f] has been highly debated in our house but at the end of the day shared ill sound with [name_f]Lilla[/name_f] is a deal breaker. I love [name_f]Odette[/name_f] but all DH can hear is Oh Debt so it’s unfortunately very unlikely that he will change his mind. All of your non-double letter names have been discussed. [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] is a GP of mine. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is perfect but too close to [name_f]Vivie[/name_f] for our family to use. [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] is too similar to our niece who also begins with J and ends with anna. I love [name_u]Simone[/name_u] so much but DH can’t use it as a first name but we are discussing [name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u] and [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u] as some potential combos. I’ll have to see what DH thinks about [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]. Thanks for the comments about [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f].

@luneth - [name_f]Georgette[/name_f], we have a niece [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] so we would rather not use [name_m]George[/name_m] variants. [name_f]Carlotta[/name_f] feels too Italian, although beautiful. [name_f]Claudette[/name_f] too dated this might be due to an older relative with the name [name_f]Claudia[/name_f]. [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] nms. [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] is so sweet, and [name_f]Tess[/name_f] and [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] is super cute but [name_f]IMO[/name_f] isn’t ideal for an adult. I’ll have to see what DH thinks about [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] and maybe see if I can get him to reconsider [name_f]Odette[/name_f]. [name_f]Colette[/name_f] is my current top pick so thanks for the support!

@mousehouse7 - [name_u]Hollis[/name_u]/[name_u]Holland[/name_u] is a bit to gender neutral/preppy for our girls. I do love [name_u]Sutton[/name_u] which I would also place in that style but I don’t think it fits with our girls. [name_f]Minna[/name_f] is a name I haven’t seen before, I’m guessing it’s typically spelled [name_f]Mina[/name_f]? I do love [name_f]Mira[/name_f] and that has similar sounds, worth running by DH. Mielle might be too french for us but [name_f]Mimi[/name_f] is adorable. I also like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] but DH has never been a fan.

@justbrowsing - I want to like the leen names but they mostly feel dated to me as well. [name_f]Summer[/name_f] isn’t our style and anna names are out due to one of our nieces. I feel like names like [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f] get mushy after [name_f]Tess[/name_f] since there are so many sssss.

@raveonclaw - Yea! Someone likes [name_f]Etta[/name_f]. I’m never sure on [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] part of me likes it and another part hears Étouffée. We are also considering [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u] and maybe [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] if she is born in [name_f]February[/name_f], hopefully she isn’t but it is a possibility. I love [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] but I don’t like using such a nn style name after [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], I know some people already view [name_f]Tess[/name_f] that way but it’s always been a full name to me, still might be worth reconsidering. We like [name_f]Luella[/name_f] but it feels too close to [name_f]Lilla[/name_f] with the same initial and end sound. DH loves [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] and [name_f]Winnifred[/name_f] but I think [name_f]Winnifred[/name_f] sounds like the ugly sister with our girls. I think it’s the fred part that kills it for me. I want to like [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Estella[/name_f]/[name_f]Stella[/name_f] but I just can

@mdelong81 - [name_f]Camille[/name_f] and [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] are the only 2 that are our style but we have issues with both of those (see above) but thanks for commenting.

@ashleyjuliette - I like [name_f]Bree[/name_f] and DH likes [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] but they never quite make the cut. Thanks for the comments about [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] and [name_f]Jemma[/name_f].

[name_f]Lilla[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Tess[/name_f], and [name_f]Gretta[/name_f]

[name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Marielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Janna[/name_f]

ETA of these I think Marielle might be perfect with your sibset.

From your list I love [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] and [name_f]Colette[/name_f]; great options! Another nickname option for [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] is [name_f]Jette[/name_f]/[name_u]Jet[/name_u].
I’d suggest you reevaluate [name_f]Camille[/name_f], which sounds perfect with her siblings. I pronounce [name_f]Camille[/name_f] as cuh-MEEL; quite different than [name_f]Lilla[/name_f]. Although depending on your accent I could see how perhaps they’d be too similar.
Have you thought about [name_f]Molly[/name_f]?

My favorites of yours in order:

  1. [name_f]Lilla[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Tess[/name_f], and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]

If you like [name_f]Mira[/name_f], you could spell it [name_f]Meera[/name_f] to get your double letters. You could use the nickname Joee for [name_f]Joelle[/name_f]. Others to consider:
[name_f]Lorraine[/name_f], [name_f]Annora[/name_f], [name_f]Lennora[/name_f], Ygritte, [name_f]Hanni[/name_f], [name_u]Shannon[/name_u], [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f], Eddara, [name_f]Reeva[/name_f], [name_f]Jenna[/name_f], [name_f]Jennica[/name_f], [name_f]Jerrica[/name_f], [name_f]Dannica[/name_f], [name_f]Calliope[/name_f], [name_f]Callisto[/name_f], [name_f]Keera[/name_f], [name_u]Sierra[/name_u], [name_f]Ciarra[/name_f], Ginnever.

Anything that can end in a double “e” such as [name_f]Audree[/name_f] and [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f]
“ette” or “etta” names:
Yuliette/a, [name_f]Rosette[/name_f]/a, [name_f]Nicolette[/name_f]/a, Jaquette/a, [name_f]Jetta[/name_f], Rhetta, [name_f]Arietta[/name_f], Brietta, [name_f]Isabetta[/name_f], [name_f]Fleurette[/name_f], [name_f]Florette[/name_f], Bettany, Islette
Double double letters for [name_f]Colleen[/name_f], Jennilee, [name_f]Merrilee[/name_f], and Korrinne (my niece’s name).
I really like [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] with your other kids names.

W/ Lilla, Vivienne, Tess I adore…

Colette, Juliette, & Rosalie! I like the idea of a 4th double letter sibling but it’s totally up to you! They won’t forever be living together.

I feel like with Lilla and Tess a longer 4th name would go well to balance the combo out with Vivienne! I’m a bit of perfectionist, however. I really do think Etta is sweet if the length doesn’t bother you!

I don’t think Rosalie has to be a “Rosie”. I, personally, would call her “Rosa”, “Rose”, or her full name. Also, Juliette doesn’t seem any more feminine than Vivienne to me. Have you seen AnastasiaRuby (Stephanie) on YouTube? Her daughter is Juliette and they call her “Jette”, I think Etta totally works. Maybe you could do a middle name with an A to make it work better for you? For example, Colette or Juliette Annabel “Etta”.

I also adore Clementine and Delphine from your husbands likes!

Sorry for any repeats!

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] could be short for [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]
I also like [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], Arietty, [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Nella[/name_f] (could be short for petronella or used alone)

A suggestion for a [name_f]Etta[/name_f] could be Ettel. It’s not very common at all, its quite feminine like [name_f]Petal[/name_f] but [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is a tougher nn

I love your daughters’ names! I think that if [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] has been a long time favorite that perhaps she would make the ideal middle name. [name_f]Colette[/name_f] is my favorite name on your list.

Anyways here are my two cents and sorry for any repeats!
